Truecar.com! Usefull information to negotiate a car with Markup - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

So I have been looking at this site for some time ( www.truecar.com ), and tracking the avg price paid for the 2010 Camaro. Around May the avg price paid was about 2k over sticker. Now it is right at MSRP. Here is a link to my results, Truecar.com.

So I urge everyone out there that did not order and are finding these cars around for 5k or more over MSRP, take this to that dealer and let them know that their "Market Value" is an imaginary term and meaning for their own greediness.

The site is also helpful for any other vehicle and hopefully soon they will be doing used car sales as well.

I'm aware there are other sites out there for this type of thing, but they are based on user input, which cannot always be completely trusted. This site is based on 25% of new car sales through actual sales data.

BTW, I have no connection to this site, I just wanted to let everyone know here, that it exists and we all should be using it to let the dealers know we're onto them! (If we didn't pre order )

Yeah, wow, never heard of this site - seems to have a wealth of information. Wonder where they get all the back end data to support it?

I say just don't pay over MSRP at all. Nothing against the site.

If consumers don't put up with it they won't gouge. This is a working mans mass produced car. It's not supposed to be priced a single penny over MSRP In my opinion.

too bad its number are only based on 178 vehicles.....

go do the camaro and look at the top right of the chart, it says based on 178 vehicles no matter if you select Local, region, or national.

I don't think anything is going to matter right now. I was a at a dealer yesterday and they had a 2ss in the showroom that a guy backed out of, and people were circling the car like vultures. I have one on order and was showing my wife the car, and this one couple was glaring at us, as we looked at it. They grabbed a sales rep and insisted on letting them take it for a drive, he told them it was 3K over sticker and they just kept glaring at me and said took it out of the showroom for a drive. The market will set the demand, not the dealers, they just sell for what you will pay, and their are enough suckers that it will be some time before they go down.

178 for the specific model & option combination you were looking at.

So its been 5 days since I posted and they now have 317 vehicles to go buy. A pretty small amount compared to the actual sales by now.. But the avg price paid for my car configuration is now $75 below sticker!

Either way I'm using this tool to show the dealer in my battle to get the car at or very close to MSRP. I'm not gonna give up, so if any else knows of any tools that I can throw in my dealers face to haggle the price down, please share!

I'm not buying any of this malarchy that 2SS prices in my area are at sticker or less.

On orders yes, but in my area and pretty much the whole SW, 9 out of 10 2SS sitting on the lot as dealer stock are priced well over sticker

It isn't tracking the ASKING price, it's tracking the PAID price. Orders are included, unsold cars on dealer's lots are not.
