? how are Forgestar wheels when it comes to curb rash

How are Forgestar wheels when it comes to curb rash.
My stock wheel got some rash this weekend but not bad.
I will put the money towards new wheels instead of replacing the
bad one. Some tires have built in wheel guard if I recall?

All wheels can get curb rash depending on how bad you get into the curb of course. With any wheels other than stock, I'll be significantly more careful not to scratch them up, but to be honest, I don't think there's one wheel better than the next in terms of getting rash.

As for the tires, yes, some do have better wheel protection than the rest. One of which is Michelin, which you can see from this picture below, the tire itself actually has a bulge over the wheel itself (Forgestar CF10's in 20"):

Other route you can go would be to just beef up the tire size. For example running a 315 on a 10.5" wheel will have the tire bulge out a bit more so that you get extra grip, and of course protect your wheel a bit!

You can find more info on Forgestar wheels here:

I hope that helps!

Good info thanks.
PM me a price please .
315 on back with the Michelin, 10.5 F14 Titanium or gun metal
What ever you recommend up front.
Note I want the tire to guard for curb rash as mush as possible.

There is no magical wheel made out of some alien material that will not get jacked up when you hit a curb. You could just not let anyone drive your car. If it was you that messed them up, then I guess you just need to not hit stuff with your wheels.

I don't mean to be "that guy" but this is bad information. Having a tire wider than whats recommended for the wheel does not give any extra grip. The contact patch remains the same for the wheel regardless how wide the tire is. It also takes away from how the car handles in cornering. I have said this many times, you should ALWAYS pick a tire that is optimized for the wheel width you have. Some will choose a tire SLIGHTLY smaller for better handling characteristics but there is a very fine line there.

I've been racing on and off for the last 8 years now, and yes, you are indeed correct to a point. I think the main point I want to touch on, is that we're not racing cars here, we're building cars meant for daily driving. Show cars, and street cars have always been about putting large rubber down, not about reaching the ultimate performance. This would have been a completely different story if this set would be for something more in tuned with racing.

If the thread title had been "Looking for a large road racing set up for Buttonwillow" or something similar, hell, we would have been saying the same thing, but does this matter for the street? No, and I think that's where both your comment, and mine need to be cleaned up, so thanks for verifying that for me

That's all well and good about street performance but putting too wide of a tire on a wheel still doesn't increase performance. This rings true whether you are road racing, drag racing, street driving etc.

Ya that goes with out saying. But some concave in others out.
Stock wheels seem like they stick out of the wheel a lot. Not gust
at the lip. So I should have said what tire will guard the wheel lip better from the curb.

Michelins are the best at doing this from what I've seen as they do have a bevel that goes over the lip of the wheel to protect it more than any other tire would.
