L99 roll racing

A stock LS3 owner challenged me for a 40 km/hr roll race at the track, so I was wondering if I should use the M or S because I noticed a bit of lag in the S.

A 25 mph start will be an issue for an L99 A6. It's a difficult starting speed for 1st gear. The computer will start you at a very low rpm in 2nd gear and your car will be pretty slow. If you try to use the tap shifts so you can start in 1st gear from that speed, you're most likely going to hit the rev limiter trying to make a real fast 1/2 gear upshift at 35 mph of so.

While on the other hand, the LS3 M6 doesn't shift out of 1st gear until close to 80 km/hr or 50 mph. So a 40 km/hr or 25mph start allows for a nice 1st gear stretch.

For an L99 A6 (very aggressive 1st gear), you want to start the race at a slower speed. A good starting speed would be down around (25 km/hr or 15 mph). Or start at a higher speed (75 km/hr or 45 mph). That way you get to start the race down in the middle of 1st gear or at a good spot in 2nd gear.

An L99 A6 is pretty doggish in 2nd gear from 40 km/hr start.

And I'd let the computer do the shifting using (M -sport). But take my advice and try to get a race or two at a better starting speed for your car.

If your buddy suggested 25MPH start. He already knows your gonna be a dog. As suggested lower the start speed or raise it. Better yet, run him from a dig

That would really solve the issue. A race from a dig would be the best for an L99 A6. The launch is what the L99 A6 does best and where it has the advantage over the LS3 M6 (stock vs stock).
