Who else here thinks...
... that the 1LE should have been called a Z/28?
Just thinking about how it actually seems 100% appropriate. What are they saving the name for?? |

Might be saving it for the last year or two of the generation. Maybe some sort of GDI 427 N/A power, with ZL1 1LE suspension and aero, wheels and tires.
Z/28 would be easier to explain to people, that's for sure. Trying to explain 1SS Camaro 1LE to someone is futile. Like Abbott and Costello, "Who's on first?"

I don't believe it fits today's 1LE other than the ZL11LE. Z/28 is the most known RPO code in history. It should be represented by a very special Camaro. While the 1LE SS is a great car, I don't believe it deserves the name. Now if they want to use Z28, have at it.

make a light weight 500+ HP NA version that is highly track focused with all the trick suspension parts and aero, then you could call it a Z/28

I remember when Z/28 was pretty much just a sticker package.

You guys are too young.....
I remember seeing a 1969 Z/28 Orange with white rally stripes, backwards hood scoop, in the employee section of the Hunt & Grunt (his dad worked at GM) in Farmington Mich... Car was way cool and bad a$$....

GM doesn't have the rights to that naming convention any longer.

2020: reworked lt1 with 500+hp per c8 and a pair of electric motors. Good for 700hp plus zl1 1le suspension and aero bits. Maybe even stickier tires? Z28 or Z/28 has to be a top dog. And NA per Big Al. For now.
What happens afterwards given rumoured c8 power plants is anyone's guess. |
