Nope. Z28 should be the top tier Camaro with the LT5 motor.

Well it is fun to be an armchair designer
But given Big Al said Z28 wont be supercharged i dont think we will see one with an lt5. Besides, that motor is old news now. C8 based motor architecture is coming and GM is already running "polls" about electric motors in a Camaro. So we know it is coming. Thats just a polite way of giving everyone a heads up. Imo. |

I never said it was. They did have the large Red Z just missing the slash. I don't lump them in with the Z28 sticker emissioned up days.
I loved the 70 ,and they deserve the bage. They were the only second gens that still had any kind of performace. I was more into Trans Ams in the sticker and slow years. If you're going to be slow you might as well look cool. At least the Trans Ams had that. |

I actually think the 1LE qualifies. The original Z/28 was made for road racing and so was the 1LE.
GM is probably saving the moniker for another special edition like they did with the 5th gens. Yes, keep it NA as Al suggests. Maybe a special high-revving LT? with the ZL1 1LE stylings and some factory stripes. Add a special hood and wheels... but PLEASE GM, make it affordable this time so regular working stiffs with kids and a mortgage can afford one. |

They will have to top zl1 1le performance and imo electric motors plus lt1 would do it.
Plus maybe carbon wheels and other trickery to justify top dog price a la gen5 (which was nothing short of astronomical imo and regretfully would be again). |

Totally agree, the original Z/28 didn't have the biggest engine, it was set up for the track.

Fyi as reported by TorqueNews there are some very loud and camouflaged Camaros testing at the proving grounds. So another model is coming. And it aint what we have seen thus far as a 2019 refresh. |

God, I wish I still had my '69. Dark brown w/white stripes, ZL2 hood, rally gauges, M22 tranny, 4.56 gears, 850 Holley DP. But, a dinosaur compared to the 1LE.

Current 1LE just isn't balls-out crazy enough to be a Z/28.

Sometimes I think.
