Interesting they would pit the manual Z06 against two automatics. I suspect the reviewers prefer manual transmission and since the other two aren't available in manual...

That is the highest trap speed I have ever seen for a stock 911 turbo S. Most trap 124mph. How did they get 130??

3:42:1? Surprised I am. I would expect some Zo6 owners will be installing higher numerical rear gears

They would also need to get much stickier tires.

So you are not surprised at the relatively low rear end gear?

Does anyone else think the width of the Corvette tires in the rear could be a slight hinderance? With that extra width adding more weight and more rotating mass.

I'm surprised. This post has the gearing for both the M7 and A8 and you can see the A8 is much more aggressive.

http://media.chevrolet.com/media/us/...2015.tab1.html

It would take about a 4.80:1 final ratio in the M7 to be equivelent to the A8. That explains why the 0-60 is so much better for the automatic.

I don't get it, they already said the auto is faster than the manual in the C7 Z06. Why put a slower version of it against two clearly (more expensive) faster cars?

So the lightest most powerful car here gets its ass handed to it in acceleration.

How the F' does that happen. I can kinda understand it from just a ET perspective because the others have AWD and dual clutch transmissions but look at the trap speed difference. That's kind of embarrassing price difference or not. The GTR is 350lbs heavier with 50 less HP and 70 less TQ but turns out a 3MPH better trap speed. The 911 comparison is almost just as bad with it being 90 less HP, 136 less TQ + weighing 60lbs more . Not only that but I think it lost on the road course as well which is suppose to be its battleground.

IMO the new Stingray C7 is fantastic but the Z06 is a let down. Gone are the days where the Z06 dominated all within double its price. Its now just a good performance car in the $75k-110k range. I would like to see a $110K GTR vs $110K automatic Z06 review. Maybe then it might actually win a comparison test.

look closely at the gear ratio's between the cars. plus isn't the Z06 limited by it's aero, from what i've been reading?

FYI...

There is an updated story on MotorTrend where they said the Z06 suspension was not set properly. Once they did this, they saw big improvements on the track.

Check it out.
