Blown N/A E85
I've done a ton of research and still have questions and hoping maybe someone is already running this setup.
I have a stock bottom with Texas speed's LS3 231/246 .640/.615 112 LSA cam, PRC ported/polished/milled heads 11:1cp, 1-7/8 headers, no cats, full 3" exhaust and all supporting mods. I'm putting on an LSA blower, switching to full e-85 and leaving the N/A cam in the motor but want max safe reliable power. I'm hearing the zl1 pump is too small and need dual fore or squash for fuel. What I'm Askin is what is definitely needed for fuel, injector size, and pulley sizes, supporting mods?? And will I need an 8 rib setup? I'm hearing I won't be able to run high boost with that cam and 11:1cp. I'm not going turbo or changing cam or bottom end. Thoughts or suggestions much appreciated. |

You will need a dual pump setup, ideally dual 430/465 pumps. Fore, squash, or agp all have nice dual setups. I would shoot for at minimum 850cc injectors, ideally 1000cc.
The compression ratio is a little high, but not that much more than stock. The large cam will help lower dynamic compression, and should in theory make it more tolerant of boost than say a stock cam.same powerbatva lower boost level basically. |

I did DSX e85 Kit and aux pump on mine. Works great. I’ve since gone forged and the kit has had no issues keeping up.
I had a VVT SS1 N/A cam with my L99/LSA ported blower with this same kit and it too did fine with the DSX kit... -Don

So you left the stock pump and installed a second aux pump with provided enough volume/pressure? This would save a lot of money over squash. I haven't heard of doing just the aux pump with stock or did you already have a zl1 pump?

I have a zl1 pump (which I upgraded from the SS pump) and Dave’s aux pump. Dave reprogrammed my FPCM (fuel pump control module) for free — part of his service.
So, dropped in the ZL1 pump and then installed the e85/aux fuel pump kit...have many data logs to show it’s working... Don’t forget, fuel injectors will be needed for e85, I have the ID1050x... -Don

I think 11:1 is an ideal compression ratio for your setup provided you stay on E-85, with pump gas its a little on the high side. You could still run it but I would keep the boost conservative if you go that route (10psi or less on 93 imo)
Your going to make more power with less boost with a higher CR, so you don't have to work the blower as hard to make your desired power level provided you have enough octane to support it and with E-85 that's not going to be a problem. Just make sure you have the fuel sytem to support it. Dual or Triple pump, 1000cc injectors or bigger. Your fuel system is a good place to plan on more than you need because you will most likely grow into it. And yes do a 8 rib, you'll be glad you did. Good luck with your build, let us know how it goes. |
