Budget build l99 results

Hey all. I posted in the L99 dyno thread but figured I'd make a thread about it as well. I'm getting married in November so I had a very meager budget to work with before my fiance got too mad at me, and kind of pieced together the "best I could do with what I had." Ended up with:

K&N intake (car already had installed)
Ported vmax throttle body
Speed engineering headers
Custom high flow cats from my exhaust shop
Resonated x pipe
Muffler delete + straight pipes
Flex fuel kit *
Dyno tune and pin activation

Ended up hitting 370 hp and 380 tq (389 on a couple pulls). Car feels and sounds a lot better, was honestly expecting a little higher numbers but I'll see how it all relates to the 1/4 mile this spring. E85 on my lfx got alost 30 hp increase over 93, so I had high hopes, but didn't make as big of a difference on this motor. Who knows.

Other things I bought but haven't been able to afford to install are lowering Springs, toe rods and trailing arms. I'll get to those one at a time when possible

I have same mods as you....shorties with high flows. I found the trans tune to be very important....ive since installed Circle D 3200 stall and have a set of nittos drag radials on order....well they are back ordered here in Canada. My best was 12.8 on street tires. Hoping to be to low 12s now with the stall and drag radials. Im interested to see how the e85 effects the l99 performance wise so please keep us up to date. I did 360 rwhp and 400 ft lbs torque.

Yea the only things left in the realm of reason for me are the torque converter and a used drag set up, and this is probably in next year time frame. I've seen a lot of your posts about the stall

Well......if i did it all over again. Other then a loud exhaust i would have started with the stall. I looked at countless posts.....talked to a few members that have them...and race with them. I basically had the i stall done and drove it home in stop and go traffic. It was this past Nov. Coming from a guy that just did it and had no real experience with it......its awesome. The car drives like stock untill you get on it.....what a difference. Biggest kick in the ass you can give your car... ..and that is including the 391s i did in the spring.

So only 380 RWHP with the E85 tune active?

WTF is going on here? Only thing I can think of is you got screwed on the factory HP lottery and had a 300 RWHP L99.

You should be right around 370-380 with those mods alone. I seriously hate that GM did this to the auto.

It's expected, the drivetrain loss is huge. My LT headers, CAI and dyno tune only netted me like... 360rwhp....But the 1/4 makes up for it. Mod for mod, L99's are going to take out any LS3 on the drag strip.

Basic bolt on L99's are running faster 1/4 miles than LS3's... the LS3's definitely have the HP/TQ advantage, but we have ... uh computer advantage lol.

Baseline was in the same imgur pic, just without the e85. I never did a pull before all the mods were on

Baseline is important. You don't know what it made before the mods.

May need bigger injectors? What did your tuner say? When I started to run E85 it was imperative that I tuned with Zl1 Pump, bigger injectors, and the fpcm. Need more fuel for the corn

Upping the fuel rails and injectors didn't seem necessary since I'll never swap cams or go forced induction. And yea I couldn't afford to go there to do a pre mod dyno pull.
