Taking the Camaro to the track

Long Island finally has a race track after 17 years. I went last weekend as a spectator. It's an 1/8 mile on an old airstrip at the Calverton Grumman property. I saw a few Gen 5 and Gen 6 Camaro's there. Talked with a nice guy aith a LT4 who was having real problems hooking up off the line. It's a no prep track, but each weekend more rubber gets laid down.
Anyway I got my racer ticket for Saturday and bought a new helmet. Definetly worried about launching my 6 speed manual. Should I air down my street tires? To 30psi, 25 psi? I'm thinking launch control will be too much at 4,000 rpm's. I saw the Youtube video of the guy using the emergency brake, not sure I'm up for it. There are 400 cars racing, so be lucky to get in 3-4 runs.

Mash the pedal and go. A smoke show is always nice.

Mines scheduled to race on the 26th. Should be fun. The only draw back is no BBQ allowed in the pits.

Had a great time at the track Saturday night. My reaction times were terrible and the traction at the line was nonexistant. Still a blast!! Got beat by two different Turbo 911's and one brand new sSupercharged Caddy CTS.
Best part of the night was taking my son for a run. He loved it!Joe is not a car guy but he really enjoyed the whole track experiece.
Best run was 9.7 at 82.5 with over a second reaction time, I litteraly watched the Porche take off!! Sorry about the languge at the end, he was very excited.
