Max HP and redline

Hello all. Hope I posted this in the correct section. On the 2010 camaro ss automatic I see that max hp of 400 is attained at 5000 rpms but the redline isn't until 6200 rpms. Should the max hp be attained closer to 6000 rpms?

Thanks,

J.D

If u look at the equation for horsepower u can understand it easier. If torque is falling faster at higher rpms, horsepower will be lower. Maximum torque and maximum horsepower typically do not happen at same time.

All this tells you is how high it is safe to rev the engine to, has nothing to do with where the HP, or TQ is..

Not sure where you got that info from, but 5000 RPM is way too low for peak HP. A quick YouTube search shows stock SS Dyno sessions prove peak HP comes right at 6000 RPM.
