Rough acceleration blinking CEL

Hey guys,

The other day I filled up my gas tank. About 20 miles down the road my fuel gauge went all the way to empty. After I got home I turned the engine off then back on and the gauge went back to Full. On Monday I noticed that the car was running a little funny. Noticeably at higher RPMS. It sounds like the engine is sucking air. So after work I got a new air filter and cleaned out the housing. I also put new gas in. Today after work I noticed it got worse. At the last stop sign I accelerated and at the high end of 2nd gear it sounded pretty ugly. Then the check engine light started blinking. I parked it and shut it off. I then turned it back on and the check engine light did not come on. I presume this is because the engine did not "misfire" since being started back up. Help. Please tell me I'm not screwed.

Do you have a scanner to check the codes?

need to connect a scanner and check for codes. It'll tell you what is acting up.

Flashing CEL means the car is having misfires

Check your spark plug wires.

If you spray your air intake with oil and sprayed on to much, your MAF could have some oil on it.

Not enough information but I would start with battery and electrical connections. Electrical signals are sensitive so the connections should be clean and tight. Use electronic grease on connections.
