WOW ... I've been on the site for a few weeks now and never saw this post!

I FINALLY get my car in 2 days (L99 car) .... the best we can get at the pump out here in So Cal is <91> .... what do you guys think .... wait 'til 1500 miles and pull some fuses?

Hell, it sounds like a FREE way to possibly gain some HP .... worst case scenario it stays the same, right?

Sorry, I didn't get to look thru all 29 pages ... maybe this has already been answered elsewhere in this post ... is this problem been looked upon as mainly an early-production problem? I thought I saw someone say something about GM fixing it by now .... my VIN is 85966, so maybe not necessary at this point?

But hell, if there's horsepower to be had (especially FREE horsepower), bring it on!

There is supposed to be a flash udate that has been issued and installed by all the dealers. 91 oct. should be fine. I would time your car first.Seat of the pants difference was obvious to me but I had driven my car for 3 months prior to figuring it out. The time gave the absolute clarity. My vin# is 9067 so certainly an early build in that regard.

But ya, worst case it stays the same.

Can't hurt. But like I said. Time it before and after. If it needed it, you'll see a full second difference.

Don't be embarrased. At one point NONE of us knew.

The L99 is the engine that you get if you order the Automatic Transmission. The LS3 comes with the manual tranny.

The LS3 is the engine that comes in the base model Corvette.

Both are basically the same but the L99 has AFM (cylinder shut down) and a slightly different cam.

Not sure about the Vin letters but check out the order tracking section and you'll find it.

My car was built on Jan. 10. Had GM corrected this problem by the time my car was built? I went with the dealer and actually filled my car with 93 octane gas myself on delivery day and the car seems very fast. I am a bit apprehensive about pulling the fuses (bwaak).

I'd say time it 0-60, if you get anything less than 5.5 secs, pull the fuses. (unless you spin the wheels for a second like I tend to do. lol

But ya, I think they have the problem fixed. Just can't be sure.

Doesn't matter right now. Just as long as you time before and after using the same set-up.

Correct. Unless you have a device like the iPhone or iPod touch and the Dynolicious app or another accelerometer type timing device to do distances ie. 1/4 mile, 1/8th mile.

You can take a video of the IP as you accelerate and time it on your PC. Just cut it off at both ends. It will be accurate within .1 easily. What you would be looking for is improvement. These timing methods are pretty accurate but measured against themselves are perfect ways to see improvement.

Here is an example of before and after. When I uploaded to You Tube it cut the last .2 off for some reason but on the PC it's perfect. Didn't matter, you can still see the difference before fuse pull and after. Just listen to the tires. Plus, you can just watch the needle. Big difference.
