Why did Chevrolet go with Goodyears on the 2016 Camaro?

I'm not sure why Chevy would go with Goodyear tires. They're not very good compared to Michelin. We all know Michelin make better tires than Goodyear.

It could be I am the only one who does not know that.

If they perform well, then I'm not so concerned with the brand. I'm not a fan of run flat tires, though.

Would of been nice if Michelin pilot super sports were an option. I would be all over that.

Because the pilot super sports are not run flats.

You have to compare tire by tire, not brand to brand. Both make some excellent and some less than stellar tires.

With most factory tires you are basically getting compromise tires.

My guess?
Goodyear bid lower price than Michelin.

Is there a air compressor in the trunk, or are the run flats all we have?

Probably just that simple. Or they wanted run flats to save weight so they don't have to include the tire inflator like the 5th gen.

The run flats weigh more then most of the same size, so can't see much weight savings. The tire kit only weighs about 5-8 lbs

I am not sure how these tires will perform, but I have used other Goodyear Eagle F1 tires, they actually are very good tires...but those ones were not run flats like the A3's are. I would love to have had Michelin Pilot Super Sports, but they are not as practical for a DD like I will using mine for, so I am OK for now with the Goodyears...only time will tell.

No compressor, run flats only.

I think GM/Chevy has had a long relation with Goodyear. I am not sure of all models but most of my Chevys had Good year tires including my last one, a 2006 Monte Carlo. Always happy with them and they wore well. Can't complain about the Bridgestone's on my last two cars either.
