Automatic Transmission: A6 or A8?

IF I decide to get a 2016 Camaro, it will be a SS and it will have an automatic transmission. Please, manual shift lovers, your recommendations to get a M6 will not assist me in my decision - it ain't gonna happen. My current SS is an A6 and there appears to be plenty of get up and go, as is. I would imagine an A6 would be even more impressive with the 6th Gen LT1 engine. So my question to those in the know is...

Why should I choose the A8 option over the A6? Would the 2 extra gears (and no doubt different ratios through all gears) really make a significant difference in the permagrin effect?

Thanks

The 2014 to 2015 model year corvette made a nice improvement going from the a6 to the new a8 with a very similar drivetrain to the SS. IMO the a8 is better.

You don't have a choice, the automatic transmission in the 2016 Camaro is an 8 speed auto.

I am going with a V6 and automatic tranny. And stand by my decision......

All automatics in the 2016 Camaro are 8 speed. Whether you get the turbo 4, V6, or V8. The only automatic transmission is an 8 speed.

GM is phasing out the 6 speed auto.

Disregarding the fact that 2016 Camaros only come with M6 or A8, why do you think an A6 would be more impressive than an A8 on the LT1?

The faster and tighter valve body means it shifts faster, more gears means tighter ratios means you spend more time in the power band without sacrificing highway economy.

The choice is made for you. The a8 is the only option.

The new A8 (on the SS) is lighter than the old A6 as well.

A8 for me. I've done all the shifting in my previous cars. Besides, the automatic is faster.
