Benefit to Quieter Exhaust?
Why yes, there is! I recently installed a 3" SS Magnaflow Competition catback and it was positively "quiet" (very deep and rumbling) compared to the stock system w/ resonator (L99) and no mufflers. I liked this setup and was happy with it. It was very "natural" sounding. But there was HP to be released in my supercharged setup so I made the switch. Very happy with the results in that department.
So what is the benefit to a quieter exhaust you ask? I can hear the supercharger howl now!!

that's why I like a loud SC like the Magnacharger with the cog, then you can still hear the SC with a loud exhaust.

are you saying that you gained HP with the addition of a catback?
I think you may be the first.

Remember, the car is 'charged so it benefits more than an NA.... Also I still had the resonator in place...

It is less than the modified stock setup I had and almost immeasurable really. I am only running DT shorties, no long tubes. :(
You can hear it when you lay into it but again it is a much deeper tone. It is starting to "wake up" as I get more and more miles on it. I would love to be able to hear it from outside the car but the wife is scared to drive it!

Damn. I was hoping to find someone local with a blower, longtubes and a 3" exhaust without drone so I could see which company I need.

It's quieter than a muffler delete but I definately wouldn't call it quiet. I've got about 1.5k miles on my 3" Magnaflow and I think is sounds pretty damn good. Definatley has a deep rumble to it. I wouldn't complain if it was ever so slightly louder but I wouldn't want much more at all.
As far as drone.....I haven't heard any yet. I use to hear it with my muffler delete for sure. Decel popping was fairly constant with the muffler delete and almost completely gone now. So....for those that like the decel popping the 3" Magnaflow is NOT for you.

Sorry man, don't wanna have to deal with the smog nazi's and have to remove them when the time comes plus the re-tune to kill the codes they cause etc etc....But I think that if there was a system out there that would be daily driver livable with longtubes it would be this one. They also have a "street" version which is even quieter IIRC.
