I am going to be doing some research to find the best body shop for the job. What pisses me off the most is the loss of the clean car fax history now too.

People run red's on right turns all the damn time. It's so common, I expect it.

I watched some fool look left, left, left, when he was straight across from me waiting for the signal to switch. When the cross traffic came to a halt and my green left arrow lit up, he darted out and I aimed right for his door. As his head swung back to actually look where he was going he spotted me. The look of fear in his eyes was priceless. I stopped, he stopped. What is really wrong with a move like that is they don't ever look ahead, to where they are going, before they start moving. If a pedestrian, a stray dog, a garbage bag full of cats guts that fell off a truck on the way to the Chinese restaurant, had been on the road he would have run it right over. One instant out of their lives to look before they leap... I saw a man one time whip it out of a gas station because everyone coming from his left was moving from the right lane to the left. He had to skid to a stop behind a bus stopped.

Make sure you go after her for diminished value for that reason too.

Oof. Glad no one is hurt. Inattentive drivers are the worst. I had a lady turn in front of me with about a 2 car lengths between us, and I was driving about 45. T-boned the crap out of her car. No one was hurt, but did about 8k in damage to me, and I'm pretty sure I totaled a 3 week old...accord I think it was.

Good that no-body got hurt! Go after the lady insurance and have full restoration, and then get rid of it! There is something about a car that doesn't fit right after they have been through an accident. Even, if their repaired to better condition then before the accident. Just my two cents. It time to start looking for a new SS, or ZL1... Good luck.

Sent her off to the body shop today. Insurance adjuster will be looking it over tomorrow. Guys at the body shop think it looks fairly simple from their initial glances. They are a Chevrolet dealer and also Camaro enthusiasts so they assure me they won't encourage fixing it if it can't be done right. We will see.

Late night Friday update:
initial estimate is all superficial damage. Sheet metal and suspension. Just under $6500 and 3-4 weeks.

Personally, this would be my worst fear because I never had any luck getting good work done at a body shop, especially paint work. On my old truck, they used a junkyard fender when I specifically told them I would buy a new E-coat primered OEM fender from the parts dept. They lied and told me it was a new fender, but I saw different color paint under the color they sprayed mine. A large number of these body shops seem to be hacks, in one form or another, and cater mostly to the quick turn around time demands of the insurance companies, not the customer. I think the DRP shops are the worst. Yah, I hate body shops too. lol! |

So do you feel confident in this shop? If you have them fix it on the positive side it won’t be totaled. Did they give you a rental even if you have another car F it and get there rental.
