it's not common practice nor necessary to "drain the block" An oil change is required and the coolant would be drained from the oil pan. I won't get too deep into this as there are far too many keyboard engineers on this forum.

as i mentioned before, you should allow them to make it right.
I've been getting the run around from this dealer since this started. I agree with you to a point but GM saying they won't replace the motor when the pistons obviously took a hit? Then they say it's because the dealer told them that the car is heavily modified? They are both full of shit.

Plus, Facebook won't let me name it "Chuck Nash lied"

District Rep said GM won't buy it from me because it's "Fixable" but wouldn't comment as to what degree "Fixable" is.

Call Chevrolet and report the problem with head quarters that would be my first step.

I tried several times today to do just that. Every time I was told that my "District Rep" would need to handle it.

Wow, I hope you get it right. I'm never going to Chuck Nash, for sure.

They should be replacing the pistons as well to make it right.

Right on, man. We all have our opinions and I can respect yours. I'm not going irate with with the dealer or the District Rep. I spoke to them very calmly and matter-of-fact.

I still think the pistons AT THE LEAST need to be replaced.

I think if you were in my shoes, you'd have a slightly different opinion. It's easy to armchair QB it when it isn't your car, time or property.

Seriously...it looks worse than it is. The pistons, rods and bearings are fine. The valves need replaced, and guides checked. Really, it's a basic repair, in the scheme of things. Let them fix the car before you make an irrational decision. I had a bad incident with NOS on my 5.0. Same result as you. I broke it in the morning, had it running by late afternoon. Did the work in my apartment garage.

Get a lawyer. Then have the lawyer contact them and watch the magic happen!

That sucks, man. I actually really like Larry over there in Service, too. I get all of my parts from Richard in the parts dept as well. Oh well, I guess I'll find another dealer after all of this.

this blows with out a doubt, i would go for a new motor but dont expect it to happen. i would settle on a set of all new valves and pistons. as was mentioned when heat is applied cosmetic issues become something more. especially as i believe there are hypereutectic pistons (not positive) any heavy knock and your ****ed. personally i feel this would be a reasonable fix. i would be very un trusting of a dealership that was dumb enough to say the tech was unhappy about fixing it. after it is all said and done i would write a letter to gm about your total experience. never underestimate what a hand written letter will do!
