The only thing I prefer about the factory GYs is that prounced lip they have over the wheel. I really like that for some reason.

I think you're referring to the 'rub strip'.

Mostly, it's there to protect your wheels' flanges against curb rash, and it probably does look better on some wheel designs than others.

Performance-wise, it's a tiny negative effect all around - a little more unsprung and rotating mass that you don't see while you're driving the car. Since rubber isn't a particularly good conductor of heat, I suspect that the outer bead filler areas of tires with a rub strip run just a little warmer.

I'm looking at a slightly smaller size of those Michelins myself, but I'll get to spread the blame around to several other sites besides Camaro5 when I do.

not quite as bad as the GYs but they still pick up stuff.

Open question for you guys running Michelin Pilot Super Sports... What kind of driving are you doing? Reason I ask is because I really enjoy Tracking my ZL1 and I was curious of the guys that are overwhelmingly pleased with their Michelins, have they used them extensively on the track or are you guys doing primarily high way miles?

I've been really pleased with the Goodyears on the track with no traction issues at all given that the tires have had a chance to heat up. How many of you guys are running your Michelins on the Track and what are your comparison thoughts from a Track Perspective vs. the Goodyears?

Tirerack classifies them as a Max Performance Summer Tire.....so, no.....not really.
