Patrick, the only Patrick in customer service of General Motors of Canada just refused to help me get directions or help in getting to the Oshawa plant where the Z-28 was built. I wanted to stop, take the car out of the trailer, and snap a few pictures. I know others have done this, and am not sure why Patrick thought this was such an impossibility. 1,000 miles only to be refused directions.

Would giving directions so we could at least get pictures of the car in front of the plant really matter??

So to GM of Canada and my dear friend Patrick, out of all due respect, please kiss my Midwest posterior.
I am sure he has better things to do than look up directions for you. I am sure it took you longer to call him and ask the question than rather look it up yourself.

Oh, geeze. Give the guy a break. He called a customer service line. How hard would it have been to supply a little info, or directed him to a web-site for directions. Maybe he doesn't have a smart phone.

Thanks for the info but we had gone way past that by then.

You would tend to think that would be easy, right? Well, as it turns out, when you come across the border with Sprint you get a limited amount of data, all of which went towards the GPS to find our way across the 402, 427 (my favorite), 401, Gardner Expressway. So by then, data was gone.

So then we still had the Wi-Fi in the GMC. This all sounds nice and dandy, except AT&T does not cover Canada, so we got sporadic emails, but internet was super limited.

So, no google, no data on the laptop, so call On-Star. They transferred me to an 'ambassador' at Canada's call center, you know my friend Patrick. At that point, I'd exhausted my other options - you know - the ones that seemed so logical to you? On-Star can ALWAYS connect you to GM, and all I got was what you read in the initial post.

I did call the Canadian GM support line back by the time we got to Kingston and missed the plant. A director expressed concern and did not at all understand why this 'ambassador didn't just give an address. Today was a civic holiday in Ontario and I don't think the guy wanted to work. GM will arrange tours, help accommodate, etc. How hard is it to say, "The plant is just down the street from us!" That's right, these ambassadors work in Oshawa as well, go figure. She asked if we would come back through on our way back... I think we will go down into Vermont and back across through the US, maybe head down into PA. After today I wonder what crazy stuff would happen if either of the $70K, one year old GM vehicles broke down in Canada - I've lost faith.

Yes. The Z/28's were built in a secret plant known as Area 51.
Oh boy.. That OPP officer is. The plant is in Oshawa about 10 mins off 401..But maybe on your way back

Maybe this GM Canada Customer Service employee "Patrick" is disgruntled because Camaro production has been moved back to the US.

seriously nothing worse than getting a customer calling me at work asking for directions to somewhere they think is my job know. "where is the closest DMV"
"can you recommend a better shop than you that's cheaper"

especially when it's busy, i just hang up on them.

Yah, you are right, but certainly not following along or read everything the OP posted.

.... it was the person's job to answer his question. Not sure if you've ever worked in 'customer service' - but that's what you're supposed to do.
