Thanks guys, it's installed, but the gripper handle does not connect to the shift boot... The boot has nothing to attach to. Is there a new boot that MGW offers to accommodate this? I'll post a picture if it helps

Could simply installing a shifter on a brand new Camaro lead to any tranny warranty issues with our friends at GM?

This, I've done a couple now, and by far this is the biggest Pain.

Other than that it's cake.

they should have sent you a zip tie to reattach it back to the handle.

if not any small zip tie will do.

Thanks again, the problem is that the bottom of the gripper knob is circular and the top of the boot (the metal piece that attached to the old knob) is rectangular. I suppose I could take off the piece of metal from the boot and then find a way to attach the leather to the new knob? Any advice would be much appreciated

The shifter feels great though, feels like a shifter SHOULD feel. Not to mention the LS3 sounds a lot throatier from inside the cabin than before, I assume the old shifter had a lot more noise-deadening insulation.

Thanks

This video was THE ANSWER to my problem, I can't thank you enough. I'm so dumb, I couldn't figure out where I was supposed to use the small plastic ring and zip ties in the kit. Just got her buttoned up, now it looks great and works perfectly. Thanks again, this place is great

Wanted to post a warning to those upgrading from a Hurst to MGW... getting the Hurst shift rod out is a pain in the ass. I stripped the allen head screws on the shift rod retaining ring trying to get the thing out. Ended up cutting one of the OEM arms off the shift assembly to pull the unit out

Glad someone else revived this.

Anyone installed an MGW in a 4th gen with the T56? Sounds like this is vastly different from how simple that was...

Haha I was thinking the same thing. The pro 5.0 shifter was a breeze on my 4th gen. Surprised they don’t make shifters for 5th gen.

I want to get MGW shifter, can’t take the factory shifter anymore!

It's a whole new experience. The MGW on the 4th gen was a 20 min process inside the cabin. I'm getting ready to replace my clutch and DS anyways, so I'll probably wait and do them all together with this.

I had a Pro 5.0 in my Trans Am, I loved that thing... and yea it was breeze to install. I just ordered an MGW for my Camaro last night, can't wait to replace this stock one. Hopefully the MGW is as nice as the Pro 5.0 was.
