Sawzall blade to cut stock exhaust? - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Does anyone know what the right blade to use for cutting through the stock exhaust is? I don't want to end up scratching the underbody of the car, or accidentally cutting something that shouldn't be cut! Thanks

4 to/or 6 inch should work.

Just make sure the blade is long enough that when the saw pulls back it doesn't get caught on the other side of the exhaust pipe. 2-1/2" pipe and a 4" blade doesn't leave a lot of room for mistakes.

I used a quality 6 inch bi-metal blade when I did mine for my axle back. First I used a mini-hack saw to make a kerf to start the saws-all in. I taped the pipe at my cut line with blue painter's tape to mark it for a straight perpendicular cut. Did all this on jack stands and it went fairly smooth.

This.

4" will likely catch the inside of pipe and bent/ruin your blade.
Go with a 6" bi-metal blade

^Tape up 3 inch area were your goin to cut with painters tape so that the blade wont slip off your cut spot tape it mark it cut it

Metal blade. A nice way to guide the blade is putting a hose clamp on the exhaust. Gives you a nice even edge to cut against.

Get a GOOD bi metal-6 inch==== use a good name ..get mine from lowes..white blade.. any good one,,dewalt..?..
