Window Tint at dealer?

How much is a reasonable amount to spend on tint if done by the dealer? I'm thinking 200ish or is that a "low ball" offer?

I was quoted $200 by my dealer. A very good Tint shop in town will do it for $199. I'm having it done at my dealer because 1) I can have it rolled into the loan, 2) it will be warrantied by the dealership, 3) I won't have to take it somewhere else to have it done. Just my .02.

Hurry up end of July!!!

If you are going with a standard metallic tint, you should pay no more than $200 anywhere.

Find out who does the tint at your dealer. Does he bring in someone that does window tinting for a living or does he just have some service guy that happens to also know how to do window tint (like mine did - he also did the vinyl stripe installs).

FYI, Ceramic film will cost you nearly double that at a local shop.

What's the difference/benefits to the ceremic film?

Ceramic films are supposed to provide better heat rejection, little to no radio signal interference, and provide better clarity.

I've got the Formula One Pinnacle series on my Camaro and I like it. Combined with the great A/C system in the car, I can ride around with the fan speed at or slightly below 1 and the temp on the blue dot instead of max even when the temp outside is in the upper 90's.

i paid like 220 but they got me for filing the windows what they called. basically a lot of places will put tint on the window and you can still see the line where the tint is put on the glass at the top of the window. their filing makes it look like it blens to the top the window and looks like it came from the factory. might have been stupid but it is what it is. the place I went to was pretty high end, kind of like a mini west coast customs.

Nards,

Similar experience here.....except I had them remove the rear deck so that they could do the ENTIRE rear window and not have that stupid looking cutout around the 3rd brake light.

Just so everyone knows, you have to remove the entire back seat to remove the rear deck on this car....GM did an awesome job on putting this car together....even looks like they have adopted the retainer clip technology used by BMW on the 7 series.....

Pictures coming later today...tint, 3M (almost entire car), and K40 radar and laser diffusers

Wow, sorry to hear your installer didn't check before removing the rear deck and back seat. I had my installer check and there is about a 1/2 inch gap between the 3rd brake light and the rear window. He was able to get the squeegee in there without a problem and did the entire rear window without removing a thing.

Don't do a metallic tint in this car, your radio antennas are in the back window and the tint will cause interference. Also can effect cell reception. It even says this in the manual
