WTB : Green Lettered License plate MA - Rear only type.

Its simple i no longer want a front plate luckily my car never had holes drilled in it i secured it with zip ties.

If you have the old green lettering plate i want it so i can legally run rear plate only.

I will buy or trade something for it.... lemme know thanks

I'm not 100% positive, but I don't think the registry will allow you to transfer an old green plate (although an owner can renew). They've been trying to cycle out the green plates for years now. If you haven't already, I'd double check before you go any further. Good luck.

You can't, I tried it before I got a green plate. I was told they won't register it. Only if you got one already register they will re register it.

I had my Camaro 1SS in Rhodes Island without plates in the front,
Had a conversation with multiple officers in gas stations or on the street about the car,
And they would always say that it looked aesthetically so good without the plate that I had done the best for the car's look to not put one at the front.
It happened to me a few times in RI and Massachusetts since I would travel a lot to Boston

Like others have said, you will not be able to register your car with a green plate.

Only the owner of the plate can re-register the plate if its in good condition.

My parents both had green plates and i tried to use one was denied by registry. Also the plates later became all pitted and crappy and the RMV denied them from re-registering, forcing them to get red.

If the plates are painted, there are guys who restore them. I think it's around $50. each?

Might be able to do that in NJ, but its actually against the law here to repaint a RMV plate.

But the main fact here is if its not your name that was originally on the plate it can only be used by that person and never transferred.
