Metra/NAV/Sub/Amp Install Pics

For reference, my original sub/amp install can be found: Here

Yesterday, 6-10-10 I had the Metra Kit installed with a Kenwood DNX9960, here are a few pics with more to come that are better quality as well as showing the mounting locations of the GPS Receiver Dongle, PTT Button, Microphone, USB Cable, and the iPod Cable!

Very nice!

A REAL NAV screen. After having 3 Acura TL's with an 8" touchscreen NAV

system, I haven't even considered using my 2SS/RS cheesy NAV/Blutooth

set-up.

Very clean install, only problem is now you've got me interested in doing this to my car! I'm with JEFF2010SSMANUAL on this one here, my last car was a 300C and I loved the nav on it, forget the poor excuse that's with our cars. Paying for a subscription every year for an inferior unit... it just doesn't make much sense to me.

Does anyone know if the stock usb port in the center console is usable with the Kenwood unit?

Stock USB is unusable, I have the new Kenwood iPod cable running to the same location though.

Still works like a charm, as well as the steering wheel controls. I can't find anything that DOESN'T work stock.

I have a 9960 on the way as well now and I was wondering if your hands free calling still works with name tags? You know, “call”, please say the name tag ect ect ect...

Not sure, never used them on the stock radio. The 9960 lists your entire phonebook when the Bluetooth connects and you can just use the 9960 voice recognition.

How do you set the vehicle settings/preferences that you do with the stock head unit with the Metra kit? Are there any other interfaces/adapters required to make an aftermarket head unit work?

Almost forgot - your setup looks badass!

According to my local car audio shop, this is the functions you would lose with the conversion. There is, however an add on module that retails for around $80 that will allow you to set these options. I hear that if you have them set like you want them and unplug the factory radio that your choices remain so I'm not doing the additional box when I swap mine in a couple weeks.
