My friend's dad told me in the 60's and 70's they would just steal street signs and cut and bend em up to make their own.

They also saw a guy get his legs chopped off by a flywheel which is why they started doing that..

Wow.... i'd say a few people here are smartasses..... but that would require what they said to be somewhat intelligent.

A scattershield is a NHRA/NMCA required safety device that is required for all manual cars running 11.49 or faster. It is a shield that will contain a clutch/flywheel explosion, and protect the driver. It is a very commonly skipped safety device. A friend of mine didn't have one on his car and his rossler built transmission blew up, putting him in the hospital for a week and his friend, in the passenger seat, in the hospital for 3 months because they couldn't stop the internal bleeding.

Either way.

Mcleod has a sfi approved scattershield that SHOULD work with our cars. Sorry I can't be more of help. The ls1/ls3 share the same bolt patterns, so it should work.

If not, I would suggest running at least a blanket. clutches blow up... save your car, save your legs... get something on there.

Back in the day..a scattershield was a steel bellhousing that replaced your original aluminum one. Lakewood was the predominant brand

Try Summit racing, or others similar. They used to sell a Kevlar "flak jacket" that strapped around the bell housing to protect against flywheel or clutch disk disintegration. I have one in a box somewhere.....
