2010 Camaro ss vs. BMW 335i xdrive
Hey everyone, I've been following the forums on camaro5 for a long time and finally I'm in a position where I can get myself my first sports car.
For the longest time all I wanted was a Camaro ss. So talk me out getting this bmw 335i xdrive which lately has been catching my eye. Any advice or comments are appreciated. Also, if anyone out there knows of any ss's out there for sale around 30k send me a private message. Thanks for the help everyone! |

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the 335i have a twin turbo setup and comes in a 2-door? Nice cars but maintenance is a nightmare in the long run.

Yes it does have a TT set up. My buddy has one and with minor mods he says he could hang with a stock SS. He is a major car guy too. He loves it. There are a lot of perks the 335i has. With that tuning you can also takeover gauges, such as at WOT the fuel gauge turns into your boost gauge. He has installed a larger front mount, tune, and some aesthetic mods. But mostly stock. He down pipes he has to instal also. I love my Camaro but that car is a sweet car, it moves too.

No one making built bottom ends for the 335i atm from what i understand. And a rare few making 500hp. On top of that they are very touchy about the oil. Youll need to upgrade the oil cooler. Put in a baffle for the oil pan so you wont oil deprive it. Unless you want to build your own exhaust system expect to pay 1k alone. Also bolt ons and tune(600 for tune alone) yet alone someone to dyno tune, don't expect to run amazing times. A buddy of mine here in Oklahoma in a Da around 800ft only managed a best of 12.3 on drag radials. Just a warning it isn't a turn key fast car that can be made into a 600hp dd cheap or reliable like the camaro could be. Also if youre around 5.11" and its a four door the b pillar is like a dam horse visor.
Just go domestic man. Don't go the more expensive slower route |

Correct but I think a 135 could give a L99 fits stock for stock. Either way its alot more expensive car and crazy expensive to maintain, mod and when you do have to fix something be prepared to shell out some major coin. A frind of mine has a BMW and when it has a problem the parts and labor are crazy expensive.

I thought he was talking about a newer 335i. Stock for stock they are about as fast as the Camaro. 0-60 in 4.8 and the quarter in the low 13s.
If the op wants a car to mod in no way would I reccomend the BMW. In stock form it is much more refined than the Camaro |

The newer 335i's with 8-speed aren't as fast as the older single turbo N54's. The awd X model is putting down 20 or so whp less then the rwd variants, coupled with drivetrain loss from the auto and you can count on high 13 second car.

You want a muscle car or a poser import? Not a bmw fan, I have 3 friends all with bmws and all 3 have been a mantinence nightmare and i personaly dont think they much more refined.
