But think of this, the fastest Camaros are automatics.
Oh yeah trust me I know lol. I just posted about how I don't like them. They have gearbox problems and from what I hear the front ends start rattling like crazy unless you get everything switched over to 2013.

I just remember all the complaints of the 2010 and 2011 manual transmissions that had this 2nd gear grind. Didn't ever really hear anything from the 2012+ with this issue although that doesn't mean it hasn't happened.

This may sound stupid with all the technical explanations and advice given, but it works for me so here goes, and I have the M10. When the transmission is cold from sitting over night or all day at work I found an easy solution to the second gear grind. I start off as normal and bring the car up to at least 3000 RPM (done this at 2000 to 3500 RPM with same result) push the clutch then I pull the shifter from first and then release it, letting the shifter move to the right (let it go in neutral so to speak) and then pull into second, I don't get the grind. If the transmission is cold and I shift into second without doing this it feels notchy, hard shift or grinds especially in cold weather. I've also noticed that I only have to do this once and it never grinds again until the car sits and cools completely. The only time that I've noticed the notchy/hard shift or grinding on mulitple occassions was when the temps were below 20 degrees.

I never have any trouble with grind or notchy feeling/hard shifts once the transmission has warmed up a little. It's only when it's cold. And I don't run the sh*t out of it when it's cold anyway. I always let the oil and trans temp come up before I start pushing the car hard.

2014 here. The only grind I ever experienced was a fast sloppy 1 > 2 shift at redline on a cold day. Ever since then I just let the transmission warm up before I start shifting aggressively. I also heard that Redline D4 ATF will make it shift smoother.

TR6060 is an updated T-56. My uncle has been a corvette guy since way back. The vette guys were doing a mod where they'd add a crush washer to the detent plug. His misgivings about the Tremec tranny and desire to let my aunt drive the car more led to him getting an auto in their 08' Z51 vette. He's got a manual trans in his backdraft AC Cobra replica, don't worry.

I found a thread a while back that shows pics of the detent plug mod. Worth a shot and easily reversible for those with the grind.

Someone did post when the copper to carbon fiber cut over started in 2011. My SS was built in June of 2011 and it has the carbon blocker rings. I have no 1st to 2nd grind but I do have the random 3rd gear "brick wall" issue.

I also added Redline D4 and like others have reported, it made a significant improvement in smoothing out the shifts.

Well, I've been here since before I had a Camaro, and this is the first thread I've seen and the first time I've heard of it. That's anecdotal, but one possible reason for that is simply that it hasn't been a concern since 2010.

I drove three 2010 LS3s, then a 2012 LS3 before I bought mine. Never experienced that. My own LS3 is driven 12 months a year. We have had temperatures well below freezing. Coldest I had this winter was 3*F. Mine doesn't do this.
