When I do the springs I plan on having a new set with CHE bushing job or similar and leaving the comps.

Loctite is also a sealer.

I use red Loctite on everything critical and real high load. Blue on less critical stuff like header bolts.

Question for those going from a Comp Trunion upgrade to a bushing rocker upgrade like Smith or Straub.... Do you still need the press tool? Or once the original trunion is out, don't need the tool to swap to bushings?

I use blue loctite on rocker bolts. Some folks use teflon sealer. I think you'd be fine either way. Red loctite would be a bad idea for those of us that have to change springs every so often...

I was planning on the ARP teflon sealer. So I'll continue with that. Thanks again man.

Parts should be rolling in soon here.

You can get the job done with a bench vice or c-clamp and some sockets if that's the way you want to do it. A shop press makes it a little easier to keep everything straight on the way in.

I used a rubber mallet or c clamp. Super easy.

So all this stuff came in...

Here's the tool, it looks like it will help to simplify the process.

The pushrods look good. I'm wondering who makes them for BTR.

The kit looks like it is really good quality.

Got 10/16 trunions done. Ran it around all last night with 1/2 of them done. Worked great.

Why didn't you just do them all? Is this more time consuming than I'm thinking?

Took ~3 hours total start to finish.

Because I was doing it in the 100+ weather sweating my ass off, so did 2-3 at a time. All done now. Just finished up. Super easy.

how can you get proper torque if you use Teflon sealer on rocker arm bolts. there is nothing to seal. the GM shop manual doesnt say to use anything. Red locktite has to be heated to break loose. they need to be tq to 22ftlbs on the base circle of the cam.

The ARP sealer is made to give proper TQ. I've seen where there was oil leakage on ported heads. Mine are stock though. Pretty sure it can't hurt. I did one cylinder.

Took a few because I was showing/teaching my son how to do the job while I was figuring out how to do it my self. It's actually a pretty easy job.

I just need to pull some plugs to make it easier to rotate the motor to set preload.

It should go easy from here.

Took a few breaks and on my second meal but about 30 min after dinner I'll fire her up. Took a little longer because I was holding shop class for my 10 y/o son. It was worth the extra time spent.

I'll let you guys know if it blows up... lol

I'm sure it will be fine. You'll sleep better knowing all those needle bearings won't trash your motor when they fail.
