ZR1 Pace Car Crash Video

Poor guy, we added some sounds to lighten the mood since he's OK, but this is one phone call I wouldn't want to be getting.

That was Mark Reuss, Head of Product Development and #3 on the GM power charts (behind Mary Barra and Dan Amann). Mark is also a VERY accomplished track driver and has driven the pace car in several of the most recent Detroit Grand Prix races. Amann is also a very accomplished track driver.

...At some point you gotta ask, how much horsepower do you really need?...

"I felt really bad for whoever was in the pace car," Power said. "It's very easy to do, and the traction control must have been turned off. Wasn't really his fault."
Added race winner Ryan Hunter-Reay: "That's a testament to the Corvette and 750 horsepower. I've driven one before and you don't want to jump on the gas. That's a fast car. It's something that can happen and the race hadn't started, so no big deal."

the answer is "never enough" lol

my ZR1 is knocking on the door of 9s and would've had it today on this run if I my d/a hand't realized this was an 8th mile day lol.

ran 111.45mph in the 8th with our X900 package in 2500 DA running against a 15mph headwind with full weight aside from 18x8.5" and 18x12" Forgeline GS1Rs and running full ZTK aero, the pass I made was astonishing for two reasons... #1 the ET and MPH and #2 unfortunately that they were not running the full quarter mile clock, only 8th mile today! ARRRGH!!! Needless to say, I was pretty pissed because this was a 9s pass for sure but could'a would'a should'a... it's not a 9 till it's a 9! I made one other pass, but tried too hard out of the hole and spun, so it was a bust despite running 109mph in the 8th.

New PB on the 60' almost hitting the 1.4s and quickest and fastest 8th to date. I'm already on the hunt for the next open track day!

Getting on it after a puddle. I made that mistake when I was 16 and took out a fence and some small trees.

According to Road and Track, it was dry....:

At the conclusion of the race, Chevrolet issued the following statement about the pace car crash:
"We are thankful that there were no serious injuries. Both the pace car driver and the series official were taken to the infield care center, where they were checked, cleared and released.
It is unfortunate that this incident happened. Many factors contributed, including weather and track conditions. The car’s safety systems performed as expected"
It rained earlier in the day, but weather at race start was 70 and sunny. The track was dry.

"No one wanted to run over the debris," Team Penkse IndyCar driver Will Power said. "I felt really bad for whoever was in the pace car. Where it happened is such a bad corner. It's real easy to do."

Kinda like when tim lynch w the outlaw 10.5 stang crashed during the filming of passtime . Either one will never let that down and probably retire from driving .
Ill gladly take his job driving pace cars from now on , thank you very much
