+1. There is a company here in Simi Valley that developed one of the first flat satellite tracking dishes for RVs. It is a very small panel with a low profile. With all the engineers and others out of work... put these folks on this project and make the shark fin a "DELETE" option.

Did they forget the ugly SAT sharkfin is still on the trunk lid?
Maybe they want another patent to move that one too, LOL

I wonder if I'll be able to order one of these to replace mine on my 2010 camaro? I lost reception when I got my windows tinted with metallic tint and would love to get it back using this spoiler antenna.

Doesn't matter where you put the antenna, chopping off the roof of a high performance car for vanity is a big no-no in my books.
It would be interesting to see how it performs in comparision with one that has a roof.
Funny, not hearing much about performance, just hype about antennas.

They make it sound like they've managed some funky voodoo here...
I pose one question: Where have the AM/FM/XM/Onstar antennae been on the Vette and XLR these past few years?

are you kidding me?? its 2010. we have cars now that park themselves, apply the brakes themselves, and warn you if you are falling asleep and somehow they cant come up with a hidden radio antenna thats not in the spoiler or on the body???

wow

then again , then new mustang still has that dumb whip antenna on it. i think its the only car on the planet that is still being made with that.

Shark fins stays. Its for XM, OnStar, and cellular.

The Antenna that was moved was for AM/FM radio.

If they can put it in a spoiler why not just put it in the A pillar. No aftermarket problem now.

EDIT: Wait that wouldnt work with a convertible would it.

Or would that work at all..

WHO KNOWS SOMETHING ABOUT ANTENNAS

That's probably a little harsh. As I've always seen it, coupes are for pure performance, while convertibles are for performance combined with letting the wind blow through your hair, or whatever. You sacrifice a little for that extra headroom. Also how many of these cars are really bought to hit the dragstrip, anyway? Vanity comes in more than one variety.

Besides, didn't GM spend some ink in their initial press release talking about how a convertible was planned all along and that the structure of the car was built strong enough for a convertible roof while minimizing performance loss from the get-go?

Anybody notice how much better (finished) the spoiler looks versus the incumbent spoiler, extending out to the end of the fender is a plus IMO...

I don't know a lot about antennas and it's been several years since my ham radio license expired but I would think adding an antenna to a structural part of the car would compromise the cars stability. It would either need to be attached by drilling holes or welding, both of which would create additional stress points. They could also just change the material the A pillar is made from to one that conducts a radio frequency and reduce the strength of the whole car but I suspect there would be more complaints about that as well.

Personally, I love the creativity that GM engineers are using to give us the looks and functionality that we want and I think it's a good thing that GM is going to these lengths to let us know what is happening with the cars.
