2012 intake manifold

It looks to be a composite piece which would be lighter. Any idea if these will swap onto the 2010-11's? Will it move the t/b(concern for any cai).

From the pictures that I have seen it looks like the Radiator cap is in the middle like the V8's. This would screw Vararam's V6 maybe their V8 CAI, could be used if this is truly where it will be on the 2012 V6

I'm more thinking along the lines of if the manifold can be used on the 2010-11's. If you've seen the inside of the aluminum manifold you'll notice the casting seams weren't very clean at all. Then there's the weight of the big chunk of aluminum compared to the composite plastic. Then there's the ease of gasket-matching the plastic compared to the aluminum.

I just installed my ported TB yesterday, so it was the first time I took a look inside the intake manifold. Yikes! I would be interested in finding out if the new manifold will swap over too. I'm guessing it would flow better out of the box, but I'd love to see a dyno test with someone running both of them back to back.

2010 Intake Manifold

Intake Manifold Replacement

  1. Remove the fuel pipe shield. Refer to Fuel Pipe Shield Replacement.
  2. Remove the air outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement.
  3. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose (1) from the intake manifold.

  4. Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose (1) from the intake manifold.

  5. Disconnect the purge line (1) from the intake manifold.

  6. Remove the purge solenoid bolt (1) from the intake manifold and set the purge solenoid aside.

  7. Disconnect the throttle body electrical connector (1).

  8. Remove the intake manifold bracket bolt (1).
  9. Unclip the engine wiring harness from the intake manifold.

  10. Remove the intake manifold bolts (1).
  11. Remove the intake manifold and gasket.
  12. If replacing the intake manifold, disassemble the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Disassemble.

  1. If installing a new intake manifold, assemble the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Assemble.
  2. Install the NEW intake manifold gasket.
  3. Tighten the intake manifold bolts in the sequence shown (1-6).Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
  4. Install the intake manifold bolts (1) and tighten to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Clip the engine wiring harness from the intake manifold.
  6. Install the intake manifold bracket bolt (1) and tighten to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).

  7. Connect the throttle body electrical connector (1).

  8. Install the purge solenoid bolt (1) to the intake manifold.

  9. Connect the purge line (1) to the intake manifold.

  10. Connect the PCV hose (1) to the intake manifold.

  11. Connect the brake booster vacuum hose (1) from the intake manifold.
  12. Install the air outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement.
This is the 2010 Intake - next is the 2012

2012 Intake Manifold

Intake Manifold Replacement

  1. Remove the intake manifold cover (2). Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement - Front.

  2. Remove the rear intake manifold cover retainers (1).
  3. Remove the rear intake manifold cover (2).

  4. Remove the PCV dirty air tube (1) from the right camshaft cover.
  5. Remove the PCV dirty air tube (1) from the intake manifold.
  6. Remove the fuel pipe shield. Refer to Fuel Pipe Shield Replacement.
  7. Remove the air outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement.

  8. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose (2) from the intake manifold.
  9. Remove electrical connector and hose from the purge solenoid (4)
  10. Disconnect the throttle body electrical connector (3).
  11. Disconnect the map sensor connector (1).

  12. Remove the intake manifold bolts (1).
  13. Remove the intake manifold (2) and gasket (3).
  14. If replacing the intake manifold, disassemble the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Disassemble.

  5. Tighten the intake manifold bolts a second pass in sequence to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  6. Connect the brake booster vacuum hose (2) to the intake manifold.
  7. Connect electrical connector and hose from the purge solenoid (4)
  8. Connect the throttle body electrical connector (3).
  9. Connect the map sensor connector (1).

  10. Install the PCV dirty air tube (1) to the right camshaft cover.
  11. Install the PCV dirty air tube (1) to the intake manifold.
  12. Install the air outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement.
  13. Install the fuel pipe shield. Refer to Fuel Pipe Shield Replacement.

  14. Install the rear intake manifold cover (2).
  15. Install the rear intake manifold cover retainers (1).

Some of the electronics and vacuume routing is different,Purge solenoid is in a different location

Hrrrmmm...J.LTYCHE.....thanks for those photos! I'm still not fully convinced one way or the other...sure would be great if it did fit though but looks like it may not. (bummer).

If it did, sounds like an easy way for more ponies.

Ya but i think when Tracy is done with our intakes they will be even better.I dont think the weight difference is that big of a deal.
