Advice from you guys/gals that live near...

..railroad tracks/crossings. I have considered moving and have driven to different towns and cities for a new start. The downside is that I've noticed numerous train crossings in the vicinity of the places that I had considered, so now I'm not so sure. I'm currently nowhere near a train track, yet I can still hear them every so often. I spent a weekend at a friend's place years ago that lived very close to r/r crossings and there was no sleep for me. How do you deal with the constant noise and vibration in the middle of the night?

I lived next to a commuter track for a few years so traffic was during the day. Still sucked...

Reminds me of the movie Blues Bros... Wasn't it Elwood's apartment that was close to the tracks? LOL.

I once moved into a place that was less than 100 feet from high- traffic tracks. The first couple of weeks I lived there was pretty rough... but I actually got very used to it, and was able to tune out the noise/ rumbling/ shaking. By the time I had been there a month, it didn't bother me at all, and my only annoyance was having to turn up the volume on the TV whenever a train was approaching.

I'm not saying that living next to tracks is awesome, but, if you DO end up there, it ain't nothin' but a thang... you'll get used to it.

Moving here they put me in temporary housing that had tracks right behind it, which I discovered the first night during a thunder storm. This place is known for tornadoes and when the building started rumbling… I thought for sure I was a goner!
