Flowtie made and mounted to stock SS Grill
Pics in this Order (sorry for low resolution, transferred from cell phone via newer Yahoo mail and it made them JFIF files which the Forum won't allow, so had to convert to png) :
1. Started with stock SS Bowtie that arrives on car from factory. Removed gold Chevy emblem from inside the chrome housing. And cut the perimeter/chrome. 2. Cut the black grill backing plate that the Bowtie was mounted to - in to a Chevy emblem shape and filed edges. 3. Painted two threaded cubes (so they would not rust) and used them as fasteners on the studs I attached to back of homemade Flowtie. 4. Installed homemade Flowtie (just like original the Chevy engineer created for the 1st 2014 Z28). 5. When I want to see the Gold Bling Chevy shield, I can just pop it back in the center of the Flowtie to return it to the stock Bowtie! 6. And now the radiator can get a bigger blast of cool air via the Flowtie as shown in the diagram. (Using this design the inner gold shield can quickly be popped in or out ... Flowtie or Bowtie switched back and forth in seconds)

ron123, thanks for the write up, I’m adding this to my winter project list. Question, how did you attach the mounting studs to the back of the chrome bezel?

Used two ~4x32 screws 3/4" long or less. Smaller diameter the better to hide it. Added small flat nut turned down all the way to head of the screw giving larger surface area to anchor. Cleaned chrome on back with rubbing alcohol Then, right at edge of Bowtie where bevel is, put a big sloping blob of Silicone Rubber and let cure for 24 hours. Same stuff they used to bond the space shuttle tiles on. If you carefully fill in on the three sides it is extremely strong to hold the stud on. Checked from many angles at front to make sure the silicone rubber is not visible - and adjusted as needed. Good to make sure the studs are verticle in the same plane that you will be sliding it back on to the grill so they go in the grill mount holes properly later. Around the perimeter of the Bowtie I used 1/8" wide 3M emblem tape that I cut myself (not really needed but helped hold it in exact position as I was putting the block nut on the 2 studs). This takes hours to do, did not want to make mistakes so I took each step super slow.

I wouldn't want to hack up my original grill to do this mod. Interesting nevertheless though!
