Does wheel size affect tune
I currently have long tube headers with off road x pipe, intake and a flex fuel tune. I was dyno tuned on the stock wheels that come on our cars. I wanna upgrade to 305’s in the back and 285’s in the front or some d5 forge stars with 305/45/17’s. Will this affect my tune at all? It might be a dumb question, but I’ve heard how it can affect it. Thanks

what's the difference in tire height? as long as it isn't much i can't see the new wheel & tire causing much trouble. if it's shorter you might run into shifting issues.
need those automagic guys in here.

Changing tire size, tire mass, etc... Will affect how much power is required to overtake the rotational inertia differences. So a larger, heavier rim/tire combo will take more work from the engine than a smaller combination. The lighter, the better maximizing how much HP/torque gets to the road. Don't think this would result in a tune difference though, just potentially hurt your actual real world performance if the wheel/tire combination is heavier than what was there before, depending on losses due to tire width and grip and all that.

Wheel and tire mass/inertia differences would have to be massive to have any measurable effect on power to the ground. Wheels are spinning so slow relative to the crankshaft that they aren't going to sap power unless we're talking about 20lbs difference or more. Tire diameter does make a difference to overall gearing, but the OP can upgrade to wider wheels/tires and stay within a close range on diameter if he chooses sizes carefully.

I was looking to upgrade to 305/30/20 20x11 in the rear and 285/30/20 with 20x10 in the front
Second option is keeping the stock front wheels and tires and adding some d5 forgestars with 305/45/17 mickey thompson et street r's |

our cars come with 275/35/20 rears....that's a 27.6. the 305/45/17 are 27.8. not even 1mph difference up to 90mph. So that's ok. But I'm not sure about putting a 285 on our 8.5" front wheels. Maybe someone else can chime in on that.

No, that would be a terrible idea. But the OP just said he would get 20x10 front wheels if he goes to a 285/30/20. So he's fine.
