i was spoiled buying parts for my old hot rod pontiac.got a complete pro rebuilt 400 engine for a grand(working in a pontiac resto shop had its advantages.)got a judge carb and intake for reupholstering a 71 judge,headers for 35 bucks.all paint and supplies for a back to bare metal paint job...600 bucks.spent every weekend wrenching on my car or someone elses at the shop.after seeing catalog prices itll be awhile before the camaro gets new stuff...

Having done a cam in a 5th, it's not hard, but it takes a good bit of time. I would guess the 'shop time' would be about 8 hours for the cam, and for the converter you're looking at about 4 to 6 more.
12hrs+ @ $80-$100 for labor $2500-3500 for parts. Thats just a ball park, with a lot of assumptions. So your $5500 seems a bit high. |
