Radar Detector Hardwire Video

I did a video when I hardwired my radar detector. Found a couple threads on this forum that helped me locate +12V so thanks for that. I started poking around in the mirror and was very surprised there wasn't a switched +12V in there like my other cars.

If someone else already did one, apologies posting a dupe, but thought this might help someone in the future.

Awesome!!! Thank you for putting the effort on making the video and posting it!

Mirror tap is definitely a good way of doing it. I prefer hardwire kit with the escort for the mute button, especially since the phone sits in the back on the wireless charger.

Not sure if you knew this or not, but there's a mute button on the front of the radar detector. It's a small square on the right side of the display, assuming you have a 8500 or 9500 of course.

Yes, I am. My mute button is at a much more convenient spot than hitting the radar detector itself or using my phone. Why I went with it. Your setup is much more cleaner for sure, you can set up yours for auto mute too and won't ever have to bother with it haha. It's more of a situational awareness for me to keep it on and have manual mute. I love my 360 for sure though!

So if I purchase a prefabricated RJ11 cord, I just poke the leads into the harness, button it back up and go?

Yep. Those harnesses are kinda pricey to me at $30 though so if you can solder at all, you can make your own for like $2.

Awesome, thanks for the video! I need to look into getting a radar detector and or a dashcam as well. Love the way that looks mounted there; looks like a professional install.

Thanks, I just bought the same detector and a blend mount but mine is different. Didn't know they had one for Camaro. Do you have a link for that one?
Thanks soo much

I am itchin' to hard wire my Escort Max but with the added detector beneath my mirror. I would be taking away from my field of vision in my low profile Tank we drive.
I so want to, but keeping my Max low, just above the dash, gives me that much more field of vision.
What to do...You did a great job showing how...what to do is the hard part.

If you hit their site, it's the same one as the C7 Vette.

I barely notice it to be honest, but I've run mine like this in 3 cars and several years. You get used to it like everything else IMO.
