Gotta couple newbie questions about taking the wheels off (2018 SS 1LE)

I feel stupid but oh well. I got a flat in my sidewall tire this morning in my front tire :( gotta replace em both now

I’m gonna just take them off myself and drop em off at discount tire, and then install the wheels back on myself.

When y’all torque do you torque wheels in the air or wheels slightly touching the ground?

Are the OEM Eagle F1 Supercar 3 tires considered directional or symmetrical?

Any tips to not **** anything up?

loosen lugnuts, jack up car take off lug nuts, remove wheels

easy as pie! make sure to order some jack pads or lift helpers from zl1 addons they help alot!

torque on wheels is 140lbs and i believe they are directional so you can rotate but just side to side

Install lug nuts snug while still on the jack.
Torque on the ground in a criss-cross pattern.
Always a criss-cross pattern.

Just be careful with where you lift the car from, especially the front. Make sure to only use the jacking locations. I like to hand tighten the lugs by just holding the wheel, then lower the car and torque them down. Pretty sure the tires are directional so make sure you get a left and a right.

You always want to torque with tires and wheels on the ground. I hand tighten with the lug wrench (or very lightly with the impact- note very lightly) when the car is jacked up. Then I jack it almost all the way down- just enough pressure to keep the tire from turning and hand torque each lug nut is a criss cross pattern as already noted. Then jack it all the way down. Very easy to do by yourself. Just make sure the jack is placed in the correct spot and is not under the body fenders or rockers. Some dealers seem to even damage some cars by jacking them up incorrectly. I shudder when I see and read about those instances on this forum.

For the most part correct, except the tires are not directional. They are asymmetrical and you can swap the tires on the wheels side to side with no issues as long as the side of the tire marked "Outside" is on the outside of the vehicle.

Don't forget the TPMS are specific to a wheel position.

Inside each wheel is a tire pressure monitor. Each is programmed to a specific position on your car. If you reverse them when you put the wheels back on, you will have to reprogram them so they will be reporting correctly on your display. Or take them off and move them to the other side of the car. Not a big deal but if you mark your wheels left and right you will be good.
