Don't look too bad , just take a scuffy pad and see if you can smooth it out . Even if you cant it probably is nothing to worry about.

Is this a shortblock out of a vehicle, on a stand? If yes, would be the perfect time to: add ring gap, tri metal bearings, good rod bolts.

The cross hatching is key to if you need to touch a cylinder. Good cross hatching, leave cyl alone and just add ring gap to the existing rings. The plug will show if that cyl issue is causing oil burn. Also, Harbor Freight has some cheap snap gauges and mics. Could measure how out of round that are is.

Richard Holdener has some great youtube videos about adding ring gap to LS motors before boost/performance mods. If that motor is ever intended for boost, it'll need more ring gap.

Tri metal bearings like a Clevite H, set at performance clearance instead of uber tight stock LS and good rod bolts are a nice bulletproofing while it's apart.

Mine was a lifter/cam lobe failure and debris got in on that one cylinder.

Damn Bo, I know quite a few people that would have a heart attack if that was their engine. I love your 'just send it', no nonsense attitude. It seems to have worked well for you.

To think I was so worried about some staining in my cylinders that honing didn't remove. My engine builder told me they will always be there and not to worry about it again. I bought a low mile used LS3 last year but the rings had seized to the bores while in storage from the previous owner. I had it rebuilt - new rings, bearings, honed etc...but I still had the cylinder staining. You could not feel anything though, smooth as can be, but the borescope camera made it looks much worse. It runs amazing now for what it's worth.

Yup My old Chevy 350 looked like Bo's I had taken it apart for new rings because it sat for 10 years, hones it and ran it for 50k miles, ran fine, just fouled a plug once or twice
