I finally received my MagAssists from ZL1 Addons -- these are quality products! Since I'm racing more and popping these tires on an off (dailys to Racing), I wanted something that will make it easier -- these are the ticket:

High quality and damn nice!

https://zl1addons.com/collections/ma...eels-and-tires

I purchased the ones for a ZL1/Z28 (since I have the Z/28 hubs)

Got 2 so I can have one with me in the car and one @ home...

I went ahead and wired up my ww pump, hope to have my startup tune soon. I’ll need to drive up to GPI most likely to get it dialed in - or log locally... depends on GPIs schedule...

Well, no joy yet as GPI is still crazy busy so, I've been looking for some tuner help -- contacted a couple folks -- hope to just get a startup so I can get some logging in. Getting down to the wire and I sure don't want to take everything back off just to go to fest.

In hindsight, I should have done this after fest so I wouldn't be in a tight spot -- oh well, live and learn...

Well, my friend Mark (ABADZL1) came though for me and helped me do the remote tuning! We used teamviewer and together, we were able to get the car up and going. The 5" really is an interesting item to tune for sure but, we got it close. Now, I can log and get it closer and then have GPI do the WOT tune for me before CFest...

Whew, thanks a million Mark!

Huge help! BTW, I’m going to test the theory about the area difference and MAF adjustment to see if starting with that works!

Really appreciate you taking the time...

Round 2 of tuning. Mark has been a big help. Did a 20 minute log and Mark has the charts setup so we can get the MAF dialed in. Very close, doing another run tomorrow and should be much closer... fun!

I did do some math and we found using the area difference of the 5" and 4" CAIs got us in striking distance from the start on the MAF setup so, I was lucky there...

Need to redo the exhaust on the header before the next logging session...

Very close for sure!

Alright! Mark was able to do a 'Mobile WIFI TeamViewer' session with me. I setup my mobile wifi, hooked up my phone to the MyLink, setup the PC and Mark logged in. We were able to do a 35 minute log session -- while on the phone -- in near real-time, while I was driving!

We finally dialed this puppy in, did some WOT pulls, and she is just purring...

I'm going to do another log just to make sure we have things dialed in but, as of now, she's just right.

So the math part:

I'll just leave it as this:

Dave Steck (DSX) suggested I use 6800 for the ETC (I had it @ 6700):

For a 4" to 5" change, use 1.40 as the multiplier (I used 1.45) and we were very close with that.

If going from a 4.5" to 5" use 1.20 as the multiplier.

After I did all of that, Mark and I just logged and updated the MAF scaling as needed and then 'smoothed' the curve where necessary.

Here is the MAF curve now:

sexy curve for sure!

3 - ~30 minute log sessions and she's spot on! I learned a ton from Mark and really appreciate him taking his personal time to help me out. Great guy and very smart! Freakin' awesome! Tuning can be really fun when using new tools and tech ;o)

So, I just need to do a radiator flush/fill and fix some of the steam lines that are using the spring clamps. Exhaust is set and boy, she hooks with the Toyo's in this heat!

Now, Fest prep!

NW 102MM SC Version and RPM 5"

For your viewing pleasure:

Running!

Lambda:

Woot! Running awesome...

Edit:

Just so you know, it’s 102° and she is running a temp of 190°, not bad!

ICT - Amazon has it. 102mm to 92mm $22.99 shipped.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

My snout it ported and it fits up nice. I rotated it just to make sure of the fit. Tb has no issues with it. You do need longer bolts - 60 mm - the ones with the kit are too short and don’t fit the NW...

Well, Mark (ABADZL1) and I finally finished up the little bit of changes in the tune, she is running super -- and especially in this heat (102° today). I'm going to do a couple of WOT tests again just to make sure but, for now, she is purring....

I will say (and so would Mark) tuning a 102mm NW is a big enough challenge but, doing that with a 5" CAI is a killer!

We were able to get things in line -- MAF curve is awesome, the BRA (no not a ladies item) Base Running Airflow is nailed, ran my 'stall' tests using the scanning tool, didn't stall, we tested for a 'hanging' idle, waited at stop lights and stop signs to make sure no surging -- its spot on.

Needless to say I would not have gotten anywhere near this without Mark. His guidance, knowledge, and willingness to work with me to get it 'near perfect' was a big help.

We both liked doing the 'real time' tuning -- I setup my HP laptop, used my mobile wi-fi, setup TeamViewer for Mark, and I would drive the car (in the heat) while Mark sat in his cool home looking over the scanner as we talked on the phone. I'd pull over, we'd adjust the tune, I'd upload it, reset the scanner, and drive it all over again. THIS worked amazingly and was very fast. Very cool to mix tech this way -- its a killer setup to do this kind of tuning real time on the streets. So much fun...

Thanks Mark! Can't wait to meet up with you and Sarah...
