Whats with the A6 L99 slow issues?

Ive been browsing the forums lately and i read a few times about some peoples automatic SS L99 isnt as fast as it should be ... one member said his best time on the 1.4 mile was about 14.2 which is LT status.... and others are saying that it doesnt feel as powerful as it should...

but another member got a 12.96 i believe on the 1/4 mile with it....

are some automatic SS's just made better then others?

There have been some issues, but let's be sure to note that 30,000 Camaros are out there, and only a few have reported issues. Those threads have gotten a lot of traffic, but Camaro5 has kept its relative cool on this issue by recognizing that 2010 is the first model year of the Camaro's fifth generation, so there are bound to be some issues with production. Every first year of a new car has some kinks when it hits the assembly line, and the Camaro, even with the amazingly rigorous GM testing it endured, has some of those problems.

I drove an Orange Auto and was disappointed in the power delivery. Received my 2SS/RS Manual 2 days ago and was shocked at the difference in the power feel. Is it the engine or tranny, we may never know, but there is a difference that is very noticeable.

so basically ur saying that since its 1st year production... there will be problems, but the majority ... 95% or higher i guess have no problem and are therefore putting out the numbers that GM said they would put out... or atleast in the ballpark... and def not a 14.2 1.4 mile for the SS

right?

Camaro runs more than fine for me. I have heard more people have had more problems with the manuals, hence the recent recall which has been fixed of course.

the select few were fixed, there was no recall persay.....

technically speaking... according to al oppenheiser before the car was released in march... he stated that the v8 manual had 0-60 of 4.7 and the automatic v8 had a 0-60 time of 4.6 ...and in hte 1/4 mile, the manual was only .1 seconds faster

so they should be pretty much identical

If you want an Automatic get the L99. I love mine and its been fast from day one.And everyday I get better with the tap shift and I'm really starting to like it a lot. Also, local guy ran low 13s in 90 degree heat in his stock L99, so they are fast.
It's a shame that there are some that aren't running well for whatever reason. But that shouldn't scare anyone away from getting one.

And before all the LS3 guys go crazy saying you should get an LS3, go to the complaint forum and read all the complaints from LS3 owners about their issues.

Slow car? I'll take that over no brakes. 2007 Edge, not even 9000 miles before the Master cylinder/lines.. hell almost the whole damn system had to be gutted to correct a problem. At least us Camaro drivers have a safe car..

:/

Agree 100%

I knew I was taking a bit of a risk when I ordered this car site unseen before production. I took the gamble and came out a little on the short end. The car is great in EVERY way Except acceleration. As long as it gets fixed, I'm fine. If the gamble was to get the Camaro and if anything is wrong you're stuck with it, then I don't do it. But I figured, take the chance and if something is wrong it will be fixed under a warranty. So that's what I did. We'll see.

Believe me. I know.

If I could do 14.2 seconds in 1.4 miles I would be the fastest street car in the world.

Uh...No, they shouldn't. Not really sure why you say this.

I would gladly trade my A6 for an M6 right now. I suspect there are a lot more having the 'slows' than are reallized, but I recognize that it is my own personal experience that has me saying this. Wish we had a way to get all L99 0-60 times in one spot. But that may be considered 'Think before you post' and be cannonfodder for the lurker publisists to down GM again.
