I suggest you read this thread. lots of video of different exhaust kits.

A V6 will never sound like a V8. Just like a V8 will never sound like a V12...get my drift?

There are some very nice kits for the LLT. I suggest listening to Corsa & Solo Performance with good headphones. Those are personally my fav's.

LOL... Why mod an SS when they could have saved for a Z28? Does the SS sound like Civic compared to the Z28? They only bought the SS because they can't afford the Z28...

Will be FUN TIMES!!!!!

LOLOLOL
you two at it again?

Why mod a SS? Because there isn't a better Camaro right now and some of us don't need to save for the Z28 and our SS already has more power than the upcoming Z28.

V6 trying to be a V8 is different than a V8 trying to improve to an improved V8 level.

OP, there has to be a exhaust system out there for the V6 that sounds deep and throaty....may take replacing the entire exhaust system....headers, mids, catback.

There are some setups that sound pretty much like a V8 on startup but once it gets above a few thousand RPM you can hear the raspyness and loss of the deep tone. Still sounds pretty decent though.

Oh but don't you know that 98% of all the stuck on themselves SS owners paid cash for their car??? LOLOLOLOLOL

It will be fun times when the Z28'ers start crackin on the select few SS owners here...

Most SS owners are awesome, it's a few who just don't get it... They stick out like a sore thumb and will be easy pickins for the Z28 owners to have fun with....

Try Solo Performance. I'm not sure what posts you're listening to, but many V6 cat and axle backs do NOT sound like rice. My Solo doesn't have a nasty rasp at high RPM's either.

They sure as hell don't sound like V8's, but definitely not rice...

I think I'm gonna go with Corsa. I know it's not gonna sound like a V8; it'll sound like a high-performance V6, and that's fine by me

What I have in my sig is deep sounding, lower tone and not rice as I hate that also and if rice was all you could get I would leave it stock!! The headers rounded out the sound and the whole combo sounds very nasty when you get on it. Does it sound like a v6, yes of course, pointless to try to make it something its not, but not high pitched and raspy just a good, deep rumbling performance sound. In fact better then some v8's Ive heard and cleaner and better sounding I think then my LS1 which sounds good but just loud more then clean and crisp, with the same combo I have on the v6.
As far as why mod a six? Good point, as the v8 is the way to go here for all the obvious reasons but for me I just wanted a bit more low end torque the engine is missing and with 340-350 net hp now the car is plenty fast on the street, all it needs is some 3.55 gears to get the mass moving quicker off the line and it would be just right!
On another note for anyone who cares I did a back to back drive around town to see how the v6 and my v8 compared in normal acceleration up to the different speed limits. I hadn't driven the 8 in awhile and almost forgot how it sounded and drove. I applied the same amount of gas as I always do with light/moderate accel up to 50 mph on the same road I always take and I really couldn't tell the difference other then sound between the two. The v6 is an auto and the 8 is a 98 Z28 manual, has 335 rwhp/345 tq and wieghs in at 3450 lbs with a road race/1/4 mile suspension, about same power to weight ratio as a stk SS. The only thing is the v6 revs up to 3500-4000 rpm and the v8 is in the 2500-3000 range to do the same thing but they feel equally fast on the street in normal street driving. At the track another thing all together I would assume as would be expected.
