Assist is very.....what's the right word....."minimal" at speed. Especially if you're in sport mode...When you're parked though, I'm betting the effort put forth from the steering rack could shift a house from it's foundation!!

Those front tires are literally IMPOSSIBLE to turn without power steering....

Hope to hear this gets cleared up. Please keep us updated!

Put me down for PS BS!!!!!

Well guys.. I got my car yesterday number 1218, and I have 137 miles on the car... ALL highway miles back from dealer and then to work and back today. Haven't even opened it up yet and as I was coming up my driveway into the garage my power steering dies!!!! I literally almost hit my wife's car while i was trying to turn in. I really hope it resets or something just got screwy in the ECM.. Happens to my 2001 ZO6 active suspension/traction control system.. After a few miles of driving, it seems to work fine... Gonna call dealer tomorrow and see what's up. Sigh... this car is so awesome, I almost felt it was too good to be true...not I fear that it might be. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come. Very disappointing....

Fixed it! I think!

Not being completely familiar with the car and the electrical system quite yet, i started looking around the engine compartment... I happened to notice a small plug and wire clip/holder on the drivers side, right above what I think is the alternator that seemed to only be plugged in half way. I squeezed past the air box and rubber air tube and reached in and pushed on it and I heard a click. I started car and no more steering problem. I hope this does the trick.. Oh well. It worked for now! I hope this can be of use to someone else.

Congratulations on your new Camaro. I am sorry to hear of the concern you are having. Your dealership should be able to diagnose what happened with your vehicle. The good news is, is that you are safe and that your vehicle is also safe. Please keep us updated and let us know how service went.

I had a power steering fail for a few minutes. Turned the car off - went into the grocery store - it was fine 20 minutes later. I'm kind of worried it may happen again now... :/

GM will/must find the problem, because how can you have a factory track car that does not have a reliable power steering system. Can anyone imagine doing a high speed turn and your power steering system malfunction?

That is where you wouldn't notice it. It's slow going that is tough with out it.
As one poster noted, going slow into his driveway almost hit his wifes car.

I have had no problems at all. Car is perfect.

So far so good with the power steering on mine, for what it's worth.
