Maybe a tad optimistic but I think this is pretty close.

As much as I'd like to see it I'm kind of hoping that ours are the last so they become somewhat collectable in 20 years.

Whether they make a 6 gen. ZL1 or not the fifth gen. will always be an icon! Collectable? Maybe!
The very low mileage garage queens maybe a Tad but so will any modern day muscle car 20 years from now with similar attributes.

Ted if I wait in a 5th gen ZL1 how much power can I make without a tune? Will those Bigflow headers fit a 2014+ ZL1 without trimming the under body aero?

What kind ET can I expect in a manual ZL1 with Drs?

I am thinking it is good to keep the warranty in a ZL1.
Sorry I missed this post damn notification system is not working.

You can add 75 RWHP without a tune but must run 96 octane fuel or better.

I have gone 11.66 ET with just this package on my car with factory tires could go better with drag radials.

Do it you will be amazed how different the ZL-1 is over the 1-LE

Ted.

I am guessing they will have a ZL1 for the 50th anniversary Camaro, but I am contemplating upgrading now. I custom ordered my 15' 1LE and absolutely love it, but... I want more power. I am an everyday driver, not a professional racer, just an old gear-head. My local dealership has a red-rock 15' ZL1 in transit and I'm seriously considering it. I doubt I'd do much upgrading so do you all think a stock ZL1 would satisfy my everyday driving or would I regret not waiting for a possibly more powerful model... AHHH... decisions!!! P.S. I have the Corsa Performance ZL1 quad-tip exhaust on my 1LE and it's AWESOME!!!

I agree it will have the 640hp, but I don't think the 1/4 will be any faster than 11.80'.
my car has about 640hp, and I can not floor it in first or second gear with PM on at any speed and not get crazy wheel spin on the stock 305 tires.

the old rule is for each 100 lbs lost, you will see a about a tenth of a second.

my thoughts are that a 5th with a CAI and 5% pulley will be a draw with the new car on the track. hardly worth the cost of an upgrade to the new model unless you like the way it looks.

The older SS ran 13.0 in the quarter, the new one 12.3. So .7 gain. About a 30hp gain, 8spd auto and shed a out 400lbs.

the SS is 223 lbs lighter, not 400.

I'm sorry but these numbers don't give me any reason to upgrade....to a 6th Gen ZL1...if there is one.

The jump from the 5th Gen to the 6th Gen 2SS is much greater then these ZL1 comparisons at this point. Unless a LSA 2.0 with 700hp+ comes out.

IMHO

I predict an 11.4 or faster. Consider that the new CTS-V ran 11.6 @ 126 mph in Road and Track at 4100 lbs, and the new ZL1 would probably be a couple hundred pounds lighter than that, I think it will probably be quicker than you guys are guessing.

You guys are also forgetting that the lt4 is making gobs of power and torque under the curve, not just peak numbers. My car ran an 11.9 the first ever trip to the track, in the heat, I would expect to be at least .5 faster with that much more hp and torque...combined with lighter weight and 2 additional gears.

Was this on drag radials?

Camaro ZL1 and Z28

Based on improvements and what basically 230 weight reduction on SS. I actually see the ZL1 also getting probably will gain at most 75-100 lb super charger and turbos do not weigh but about 15-20 pounds with intercooler looking at 50-60. With the 350GT Mustang going with light carbon fiber wheels saving about 25 pounds total I would expect both ZL1 and Z28 will get bigger and lighter wheels probably magnesium. The ZL1 will still have dramatically improved handling with gen 6 stronger frame and less weight.
SO 640HP probably 3850lbs I would say 0-60mph in 3.3 seconds 11.4 quarter and with good gearing maybe right at 201mph.
The Z28 will have a lot of weight saving measures the goal is to be 3600 or less on Z28. Probably meaning superlight wheels less speakers and noise deadening material, carbon brakes etc. Engine wise either a next gen DI 427 with about 540hp or a bored and upgraded 6.5L LT1 with about 520hp that would be about 50 pounds or more less than the big 427. But all said I would guess 3.5seconds to 60 and 11.6 quarter but probably 1.05Gs and braking in under 110 feet. If the Mustang 350GT does Nurburring in 7:33 you can bet the Z28 will do it in about 7:25 or less. The Z28 will be as good and as fast as the base Corvette more less blazing fast and actually handle a lot better than likely. The ZL1 will also brake and handle a lot better than the previous generation may be the best buy to tell you the truth.
