ZL1 based on 2016 performance numbers

Looking for guesses on what the new? ZL1 Performance numbers will be based on the released SS numbers 4.0 60 and 12.3 1/4 mile. We could start with the estimate the ZL1 will get the LT4 at about 640 hp.

I would say the current zl1 with 640 crank hp -.2 second for the weight. Probably a 11.6 @ 123-124. It will certainly be a bit slower than the current Z06.

I would predict 0-60 3.4 seconds and 11.5 @128. Cant wait to see the numbers.

While that would be cool, I don't see it. Standard SS is around 3700lbs depending on options, add at least 150 lbs for the blower, bigger brakes, heavier duty drivetrain, additional coolers, etc and you might be 150-200 pounds lighter than the C5 ZL1. 640 crank hp often yields 121-122 trap speeds at 4000lbs.

I think 11.5-11.6 is reasonable performance to expect from a new Z. Our car weighs 4,120 so that puts the new car at 3,900-lbs assuming it indeed weighs at least 200-lbs less. Still a fat pig, but lighter than ours and with 60 more hp. Also consider the aggressive gearing of the A8 will help a lot.

ET? Absolutely. Maybe even 10's with slicks.
Heck, when the C5 Z came out a guy ran an 11.4 with a really good DA.

But 128mph with just 60 more crank hp and -200lbs? We shall see.

I'm thinking (if they even make a ZL1) it will have more hp and tq than the new CTS-V, just like the current ZL1 does. I wouldn't be surprised to see about 650-660hp.

Not that it makes a big difference, but I've read that the 2017 Z06 will have an increase in power numbers from the current 650 HP/650 TQ and if so, figure the '17 ZL1 will be at the 650 mark as it has already been announced that the Caddy V will have 640. This will keep the GM power food chain intact.

Who cares!! I got over 700 to the crank.
So whatever it is it won't be impressing me unless I see hellcat beating numbers. (Which isn't going to happen)

me 2......but still it's good to see the ZL1 get a much needed power boost for the Gen6 and with the weight reduction, it doesn't need to get to the Hellcat power numbers in order to hang with it.

I was told yesterday there will be no 2016 ZL-1 or Z-28 but I suppose that could change.

Ted.

I wasn't thinking 2016, probably 17 or 18. Just trying to get some inputs based on the weight and performance of the new SS.

A reliable source I hope. I need to replace my 1LE while I wait.

Ted if I wait in a 5th gen ZL1 how much power can I make without a tune? Will those Bigflow headers fit a 2014+ ZL1 without trimming the under body aero?

What kind ET can I expect in a manual ZL1 with Drs?

I am thinking it is good to keep the warranty in a ZL1.
