Radio not holding the correct date - Page 3 - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Hey guys. I've checked into this problem and it is a known issue. I think the team has determined that this happens when there is a month changeover and the car sits for more than 1 night. So if this seems to happen at the beginning of every month, that's why. Haven't heard yet if the dealers have access to the update yet, but it should be coming soon if it's not there already.

Sorry about this, but just know you're not going crazy, it's a bug in the software.

This problem has just started recently with my 2014. Date starts out correct, then I notice after driving it is not only the day number wrong, but also day of week and year. For example, first time it happened on Monday, November 20 2023 - I looked over and saw Thursday April 16 2012. Yikes! I thought it was some kind of alien abduction situation,

It changed back to correct date eventually by itself while driving. Good thing because in configuration, the date change bar is grayed out.

This happens a lot now, and it always goes to April of 2012, but day and number vary. Turning engine off seems to reset, but then happens again while driving.

Glad to see I'm not imagining this, but mine seems extreme . Car is used just about daily.

In the long run, I guess it doesn't matter, but could it develop into something else, like time or radio settings or whatever!

Could this have anything to do with Onstar not being available anymore? Was time/ date auto updated by Onstar or something?

Maybe the radio's own "clock chip" has gone bad ?

Btw.Do you radio stations have RDS ?

Mine will do this after it comes back out in spring. But, then again, it’s sitting for 4-5 months.

I doubt that, but maybe there is a short in between somewhere, could also be internally, I would take the radio out and throw a meter in between, baby steps to troubleshoot, how long has it been doing it? does it do it at certain times only? do the programming (Stations and settings) disappear too?
