I don't know why so many people think plugs are bad. I've plugged everything from lawn mowers to dump trucks.... never had an issue. Some people are just paranoid

ohh, and I hear you better sleep with tin foil on your head so the aliens can't read your thoughts

Dodged a bullet...

Turns out they were sheet metal screws and were very short and only went into the tread. Didn't even have to plug or patch. Local tire shop charged me nothing. The area I was parked was near were they had recently done some new construction in the strip mall, so maybe the screws fell off a truck or something. Just kind of suspicous since it was both rear tires and 3 screws.

We get sheet metal screws and sheetrock screws all the time in the garage I park in. Lots of people in the building renovating apartments, and the construction people make a mess taking the debris out through the garage. My vote is careless construction workers / debris removal as opposed to vandalism.

Glad it worked out in any case.

Anyone know how thick the tread actually is? I have had some pretty decent size screws in my tires but they never leaked when I removed them.

Typically back tires are more susceptible to getting screws in them. The front tires rolling over them flip them up and if the rear tires catch one in the right position, they penetrate...

Seriously, sorry about your tires.
Seriously, I had this done to me (previous car) over a 5 yr period more than 25 times.
Someone in the neighborhood is jealous of your Camaro!

Did an experiment, put screws in the driveway and ran over them multiple times and nothing in the tires.

I got nailed twice and screwed once.. I plugged all 3 no leaks or problems.. For me def wasn't kids F'ing around the screw I remember droping and forgetting to pick up in my driveway and the nails where pallet nails from by my loading docks at work.. It's just luck of the draw and weird how the nail or screw just bounces enough to go perfectly into te rear tires lol damn the bad luck

Crap in tires

I bought my '12 2SS in March. In the past two+ months, I've had two nails and a razorblade in my rear tires. I'm a housewife, I'm not touring construction sites. The nails caused slow leaks which we handled thanks to compressor in garage before taking to NTB for patch. The blade took it to the rims and I had to be towed. This is getting really old. Everyone says the Pirelli's are such great tires, but the uncertainty of this is making me re-think my purchase. I love the car but this situation is nuts. Any thoughts out there? Am I just unlucky or might this be vandalism? Car is usually in the garage, sits in driveway on days I'm running errands. Appreciate any advice.....
