Lightbulb Bose Speakers to replace Boston Acoustics

I might be late with this one, but I just got off the phone with my dealership to schedule an appointment to have my right front door Boston Acoustic speakers replaced for the 2nd time. I was informed by the service dept. that since my VIN# falls under a certain number, they are going to replace both front speakers and add an Amp due to the distortion in the speakers when played at high volume. So if you got your car in early 2009 (like I did) and having/had this problem with your speakers I would call the dealership and enquire about those "Bose Premium Enhanced" speakers that my dealership is talking about.

If those are anything like the Bose speakers with amp used on Corvette, don't get your hopes up. They sound pretty bad.

I never been in a covette so I don't know how the system is...But I actually like the Camaro/RS Boston speakers has minus the damn right speaker always blowing and that rattle in the rear deck. But besides that the OEM speakers are pretty impressive. Even the OEM system I had in my 2001 Monte Carlo uses to bump. But they have to do something becuase I'm tired of going to have my speakers replaced on a 2 year old car. They actually sent me a memo saying that I may have to turn the bass down when listening to music with a lot of bass like Rap, Jazz, R&B, etc...I'm 28 yrs old and love loud music. But I tried their method and that sh*t still blew. So any (new) soultion I'm willing to try. Especially if its covered under warrenty and coming from the dealer.

Don't do it!! They'll put in a lower powered amp. Just buy some new speakers and install them yourself. There is a TSB on it. The factory amp blows the door speakers so the fix is replace the speakers and amp but the amp is a lower power unit. Although I've never heard of them changing the brand of the speakers. That sounds weird.

Man! I think my eardrum would burst before I could turn it up loud enough to blow the speakers.

I guess I'm too old.

What's the effect of adding the Factory Sub to the BA system on the 2LT/2SS? Does this keep the speakers safe at high volume?

No Hi's / No Lo's must be Bose. Where higher prices are achieved through better research. To each their own. But I wont own.

I second that. Bose is the ultimate in over-priced garbage aimed at rich people who think high price = high quality.

I'm glad folks here are educated. Buy Other Sound Equipment. As an A/V designer/installer, Bose is a well-known joke. I've never heard their car audio systems - despite them being everywhere, but the aftermarket systems are your best bet from other manufacturers.

Save your money and buy something else, BOSE speakers aren't all that good.

Oooh rah, Devil Dog! Thank you for your service, esp. at this time of year (Memorial Day). I'll third that, Bose equipment was always too expensive for me. Wave radio is OK though.

Try www.crutchfield.com . The USB radio I bought from them last year for my '93 Toyota pickup works incredibly well, even with the crap in-dash speakers I have.
