from what I've seen the majority are already programmed and u don't need a dealer to enable it, anybody that knows code or how to jailbreak a cellphone can do this....or anybody willing to invest some time. I turned off my motion locks on mine so I can read a text without parking. plus the reverse switch doesn't have to be wired in, u can get the input from the gmlan network that the MyLink reads.....the same network that it reads the steering wheel controls from. just have to crash the system and it restarts in "bios" like mode...I originally assumed that the op's MyLink was macgyvered in because he didn't have the cam already going so instead of going into a howto seminar figured it was easier to get him to use the hardwired inputs that aren't used on the factory install(or whichever input the ml is programmed to use as a reverse) instead.
for anyone that is willing to hack the MyLink u do not need to install a reverse switch if ur MyLink is installed properly, it's already there and read from the MyLink.
anybody that has a MyLink and just doesn't want to deal with it just get a media converter/rear cam kit for the camero and hook it up to the MyLink. They're cheap.

Any aftermarket solutions come at a price.
oh, I just read this now!! the point is yes u can and just because u can't means nobody else can?

copy and paste up ur code.

The box includes weak instructions plus extra cables and connectors for either additional options or other applications, so I need to figure out if there is anything else I want to do when I have it all apart.

The only thing I really want is the rear camera, although I wouldn't argue with adding a front one as well. I rarely listen to the radio and use my phone for navigation when needed. I don't even have my phone synced to my car but I'm open to trying new things if they make sense.

Didn't say anyone else couldn't. Just said most people can't or won't attempt it. Its not user friendly. I think from what I've read 99% of people wont mess with the high speed can bus.
I have my arduino files if you want those I can dig them up.

your not messing with canbus, it's gmlan.all information happening is distributed through it regardless so u just need to enable the mylink option cuz it's receiving that data anyway.
your Arduino code I'm sure is written to distribute your video output based on data it's reading like when it reads left signal on it enables left camera output(I'm sure it has vehicle speed>10mph and a not <hazard switch on) and I'd be really impressed if ur reading canbus, im sure ur reading gmlan the data can be read anywhere on the network, your just making something turn on via another device by it reading an action it reads on the network. it's exactly how the idatalink maestro rr2 module uses it's programmable outputs.
anybody that understands operating systems has the ability to enable the MyLink.

edit: if u have ur code handy post it up, want to see how ur extracting canbus and configuring it to be read.

post up a pic of the module, the side that has the connection points labeled and the instructions. it should have the ability to add a front cam.
this module reads data that is being distributed on the vehicles network system so when it reads that your car is in reverse it turns on the video feed that is for the rear camera and sends it to the MyLink video input.
these modules usually have video in motion outputs as well, post some info and let's check it out.

This is the main box and instructions. I'm pretty sure some of the cables in the box are for other options.

I'm wondering if this is the same module that they sell as the 3 cam model and they just change up the instructions? are u connecting it via network or hardwire trigger? if u connect via gmlan and enable the vid 1 and vid 2 then connect your reverse camera to vid 1 or 2 just to see if it works it's worth a try. your vid 1&2 should be triggered by ur left and right signal when in motion but vid1 might be set as a front so try it when in motion ,try different speeds...if automatic try drive with your brake applied.

try contacting technical support for the other features like it states on the bottom of one of the pages....also ask what's the point of the reverse relay if it's getting it's instruction via gmlan?
