"mild to wild" ZL1 modification??
Does anyone know if there is a mild to wild kit for the ZL1? Does anyone know if there is easily accessible fuse as on the ZR1 to pull so exhaust is always "open". This will be my first mod so I want to be prepared.

I think 99.9 percent it will be the same. I hope it makes more of a difference than it did on my Z06 or it is borla hear I come for my first mod.

Wow "mild" . I think back to some cars I have owned that I thought were bad ass from the factory. 68 Goat with a "standard" 350 HP, 01 Ws6 vert I think 330HP LS1, I honestly can't wait to experience 580! I will probably wait for a bit to go to the "wild".

The ZL1 should include a mild to wild setting in my opinion. Its a great setting for the exhaust system.

Lol I guess I did not realize all it meant was to open the bypass valve.

I have a Sunset Creations Exhaust Commander in my ZR1 - it links with the garage door opener so you can open or close the exhaust with the push of a button and don't have to carry a remote - it is the best thing I did for enjoying the car because even at 638HP, it sounds pittiful at idle with the exhaust closed. I think that they have done the ZL1 right - the exhaust is open at idle and open when you are on it (over 3,000 rpm if I remember), but quiet when crusing on the highway. That may be just the perfect mix - if not, I will be pettitioning Sunset Creations to jump on the ZL1 bandwagon and program one.

I'm not sure that the Mild to Wild will be as simple on the ZL1 as it is on the Corvette's as the system has been slightly changed.
The following is the information that has been mentioned on the exhaust so far, and I have bolded the part that leads me to believe it will not be as straightfoward on the ZL1 as it is on the Corvette. Thankfully they have also changed it to be open at idle to 1,000rpm - so the need for the Mild to Wild is probably less so in any case.. The dual-mode exhaust of the ZL1 provides refined tuning (optimal noise and vibration characteristics) at low engine speeds and a low-restriction exhaust (enabling peak horsepower performance) at high engine speeds in one exhaust system. It utilizes a vacuum system similar to Corvette, coupled with twin valves located at the exhaust tailpipes. Although both Corvette and Camaro use vacuum actuated exhaust valves, there are differences. In the Camaro, the control software resides in the chassis control module that contains other software, to reduce the number of modules in the vehicle. The Corvette is calibrated to open the exhaust valves only during aggressive driving, when engine rpm and throttle position exceed certain values. The Camaro is also calibrated to be open during aggressive driving. In addition, it is calibrated to open the valves at engine idle and up to 1,000 rpm. |

It does appear to be different and more involved than the corvette that is done simply by relpacing the fuse with a module that sends a signal to keep it open all the time. From the sounds of it, there will really be no need for a modification on the ZL1 since it is open at idle and with acceleration. I think Chevy learned their lesson (and listened to customers) and realized that people with high performance engines don't want them to sound like a 6 cyl at idle!

The fuse is F8 in the fuse box in the trunk according to page 10-53 in the owners manual. although what Modern07 is true, pulling the fuse should keep it open regardless of your RPMs...

We are currently working closely with Leea customs (nakid parts) the creators of the origional mild to wild on the Corvettes to develop one for the ZL1's and also for anyone who wants to retrofit thier standard SS to the ZL1 setup. I will keep you all posted

This says it will work with visor mounted home link, but not other visor mounted remotes. My remotes are not visor mounted. They are on the right side of the reading lights. Buttons are actually a pain compared to other Chevy products. Anyone know if there are different remotes on ZL1 And if this works on the type I describe?
