I don't have anything special like those wheels on my car but, it's my car. During CF7 last year the only priority for me was to not damage my car or anything else. It colored all my decision making and was the determining factor in not running in the AX event. I did have one "pucker" moment at NCM when I missed a brake point because I was thinking about where to let a faster car by. I didn't go off track but the corner was ugly at all points.

I reckon what it boils down to is kinda what Ruby said. Don't be racin' if you don't wanna be wreckin'.

As a beginner and first timer, is there a certain pace you must maintain?

I suggest to EVERYONE that they look into track insurance. It will run ~$200-$400 for the event. These policies, typically, have a 10% stated value deductible (if you state your cars value, with modifications, at $40K, your deductible is $4K). It gives peace of mind for a modest investment.

Not that I know of. Pretty much go as fast as you're comfortable with and wave faster folks by when you can safely do so.

I looked into the insurance Lafourche1 is talking about last year and while the event insurance covers damage you may do to your car, it doesn't cover damages to other property. For me, it wasn't worth the expense.

For about ~$100 you can add the property damage to the policy. This would go towards damage to fencing or to the track surface itself.

Well, sure.

The problem I have with insurance is, unlike your view that it's an "investment", you, and the insurer are gambling. You bet against yourself and the insurer bets for you. Here's the real kick in the pants though. The insurer doesn't ante up until you win the bet. I reckon it's much the same as a bookie however. They don't ante up front either.

Doesn't really matter in any case. If a person feels better about putting up three to five hundred and counting on someone else to cover 90% of the costs they might incur, have at it. In my case, I counted on myself to make the real time decisions necessary to prevent mine and other's property from being damaged. I just couldn't see paying as much as I pay for 6 months of road coverage for 1-3 days of very limited coverage.

For those that use Road Warrior Plus, do you also feel it's necessary to put blue tape over it? Would prefer not to for prettier on-track pictures

No, I don’t. I put enough on and it works!

This is from my last race on 5/26. Still have it on while I’m working on the car...
